Comments: I just can't resist those Italian Coach bags! I was the highest bidder at $32.20 but I haven't paid for it yet. This one looks genuine to me (and very special) but I have never seen a creed or serial number like this so I would greatly appreciate your expert opinions. And if you have any information about the bag that would be fantastic, thank you!

The hangtag reminds me of the Girlie bags from around 2003, Some of those bags were made of unusual materials, any idea if some of them were made of genuine lizard? There is an E in the serial number, so that might refer to the Italian plant? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not familiar with the bag but it looks good. It looks like it's from 2000 but there doesn't seem to be a month code. (Other opinions are welcome!)

Here is Coach's stock image. (I didn't search the wayback.)

I've seen at least one other example of the same style with the same metal creed plate and without a month code, my files even mention that missing code.

There was also an 8191 Lizard Envelope Clutch which may have had the same details but I've never seen a photo of one other than the drilldown pic.

Thanks, I'm really getting excited to see it! From the pictures it may have some spots which would be difficult to remove from reptile skin. I hope not.

Can you help me read the serial number?
0E-8190 No. 120E/200

The creed says that each bag is individually numbered so I'm thinking that my bag is number 120 out of 200, but I don't know why there is an E after 120?

Does "0E" means 2000 Italy? And of course 8190 is the style number.

Yes to all of the above. As for that E after the number, who knows? The Italian plant was a law unto itself and did things their way. Anyone who's ever owned an Italian car will understand that particular national philosophy completely.

The seller hasn’t responded yet.
I shall update when I get a response.
Thanks BeenBurned!

The seller never responded to me but did remove the listing. My account still shows that I have an item that I haven’t yet paid for but there is no way for me to pay or remove it. I’ll have to contact eBay to sort that out one of these days...

I have decided I really want a station bag now so my hunt shall continue! Guess the self imposed ban is officially off! I’ll be sure to seek authentication here - so no more impulsive last minute bids

Thanks BeenBurned for your help with this and everyone else for this wonderful community!

Actually, jzreel584 has a history.

Since you haven't paid, contact the seller and tell her you want to cancel because you've learned it's fake. (Refer her here if necessary.)

If she's smart, she should be very willing to cancel and hopefully, not relist it!

And for the record, here are a couple of pictures from the listing in case it gets removed.

Actually, no, the seller didn't remove the listing; ebay did it and there's now a counterfeit ding on jzreel584's account.

When ebay removes a listing that hasn't been paid yet, you aren't obligated (nor is there even a way) to pay. Had you paid, she could either have refunded (the smart thing to do) or she could have shipped it to you, after which you'd have to file a SNAD report through Paypal for the fake.

Is this the listing? (We need links to the specific listing rather than having to scroll through the whole IG account.)

Seller herbid.id

The bag is fake for several reasons. If you bought and paid for it, I would return and get a refund.

Without being too specific, this is what I'm seeing:
  • a style number of a bag that is only on Asian websites
  • The bag appears to be style 58321 but doesn't have that style number on the tag
  • Based on the made in tag vs. the white tag with production info, there's a discrepancy on the type Coach store the bag came from
  • compare the following from another bag, same month, year and factory (Same year and plant tags should have identical fonts/spacing)
herbid.id fake coach vs authentic.png

ETA: I don't know why it didn't just post the link to the listing......hmm.

Good luck.

(I actually edited my post above to show a comp picture of another production label from the same month/year/plant to demonstrate the differences.) Except for the style number (second half of the serial number), the tags should look identical.

Hi! I would appreciate help authenticating this possible vintage Coach.

Name: unknown
Dimensions: ~12in across the top; 18in drop from handle; 7in top to bottom of bag.
Creed info: Made in the United States, creed # 0781-135

These are full sun photos outdoors, but I’m still not sure on it being navy or just a very faded black.

If it's genuine, the color is probably black. If it was Navy, the blue would be obvious.

We need to see a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number, just seeing the number typed out doesn't tell us what we need to know. That requirement, and also information on where the item was purchased, are listed in Post number One of this thread and required for every authentication. That's why it says
**see first post for format**
at the top of every Authenticate page.

I am so sorry! I did read that; I had a few photos not upload but didn’t realize the creed was one of them. It should be there now.

Oh I didn’t realize it was eBay that removed the listing. Sorry for the misinformation.

Just curious though, why would eBay remove the listing after it sold? I hadn’t contacted eBay yet.
