Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

It looks like a genuine Darcey Drawstring style number 4229 from the Sheridan line, made in the early 1990s, although the top to bottom measurement that Coach gives in their catalog is different. Coach lists the measurements as 9 1/2 inches long (side to side (probably measured at the top opening) by 12 inches high by 5 1/2 inches deep so if it's the same bag I'm not sure why there's such a difference in the height measurement. Genuine Rambler's Legacy from 2002. That style was made from late 1998 until around 2002-03

I hate that when it happens, I have actually purchased bags and then had them authenticated. Posh has a 3 hour window you can cancel. Probably not a nice thing to do, luckily I have only had to cancel once because the bag was fake.

I regret just not buying it because I was 99% sure it was authentic. It was purchase literally 2 mins after it was authenticated lol Oh well you live you learn! Good to know about the purchase window, thanks :)

Unfortunately, that's a risk when you post publicly but it's a lot easier to know ahead of time and hit the back button if an item is fake than often trying to deal with a difficult seller after the fact.

But sometimes it's also necessary because though we often do it here, some of the authenticators will only authenticate live unended listings so you can't wait to ask until after you win it.

The good thing is that there are very few items that are so rare that you won't find another if you happen to lose out on one.

Thanks! I didn’t know some will only authenticate live auctions, good to know and I can see why. The bag I was going to purchase is not rare just a good price! And the seller offered me an even better price than what it sold for so whoever bought ya could have gotten it for a lot cheaper lol

Cancelling an order if you learn the bag is fake is the right thing to do. You're saving yourself and the seller the hassle of a return.

eBay has a one hour cancellation window...for any reason.
