Was this a local Goodwill store or website and which one, or on the national Goodwill website? I think I'm going to stick my neck out and start advising against buying from that location if the employees can't even see the evidence when it's right in front of their noses. I wonder how many other fakes they've stuck their customers with?
Shopgoodwill.com.

I’ll have to double check the exact location

Couple duffle sacs that are interesting in both good and bad ways.

Aside from the weird lighting (bag described as black) let me know if I should ask for a better photo of the creed. I only submit this way because I've seen you ladies read creeds like a paleontologist deciphering the Rosetta Stone (I know, mixed metaphor. It's a migraine day)

The serial number here has me wondering.

Thanks for using your expertise to help feed our love of vintage Coach!!

I'm curious about this one. The X plant seems to have been a wanderer but the font looks funny, the dowel end looks to be wood and the padding above the turnlock isn't straight. I'm doubtful.

And interestingly, the seller also sold this genuine Willis in this listing from which the picture of the OTHER dowel end is shown in the questionable listing! That one has leather.

The only *7X- creeds I have in my files are 2 Ergo Satin Hobos 6101 with "glove-tanned cowhide" USA creeds but which seem genuine. Both of those creed and serial stamps have differences compared to the one in your post, especially the Coach logos and the roundness of the letters in the creed, unless the lighting is playing tricks on me. But the "No"s in the serials are definitely different.

ETA - here's the questionable one in your post:

and here's a definite Fake from my files with a 1998 X plant code but what looks like a similar creed and the same "No" in the serial as the one you're questioning, it also has a too-short inside zipper and indents in the back of the turnlock:

I have a quick question and I’m not sure if this is the right thread to ask. While looking for some coach bags I’ve come across different posting but the bags have the same serial number. Would that mean its for sure fake? Its the format of (letter)(number)(letter)-####

For the first one, I would contact the seller and insist on clarification of the color. While you're asking about that it's a perfect excuse for asking for a clearer photo of the creed and serial number. there's no way you should bid on it with just the seller's current photos.

As for the second one, what do you feel is wrong with the serial number? I don't see any problems.

I guess I've seen so many duffle sacs with (letter) (number) (letter) before the style number that the M72 threw me off. Confession--I haven't re-read the Salearea guides in a while and recognize that it may be time. I will email the seller of the first, also. Thank you, Hyacinth! (saw you on our local PBS the other night!!)

Absolutely not! Any serial number in bags from 1994 to the present can be one of hundreds or even thousands with the same exact serial number.Rather than going into a long explanation I'm going to do what I always do and tell you to read the thread posted at the top of the Coach Shopping forum's index pages about the six Salearea Coach Guides, especially the ones about Serial Numbers and Authenticity Guides. They include answers to many frequently asked questions.

Bless PBS! They make sure that I never look a day older in any of my "appearances"!

After seeing your comps, I'm convinced that richar-89's Willis is fake. Not only are the "No"s in the serials definitely different but the hyphens are different two. And the puffy creed with squished serial number matches the fake from your files.

I'm going to see if I can find someone to ask for a picture of the back of the (female) turnlock.

When you do, ask for a picture of the handle, shot from the top. That is something counterfeiters usually get wrong.

So, the color IS black(!!!) and the two photos of the creed I received were worse than the original one in the listing. I'm done with this one. I would suggest that if anyone takes a chance on this, take your own photos as outlined in the first post of this thread and get it authenticated ASAP after you receive it.

Comments: I gave my Dinky to my sister a few years back but now I want another one! It looks genuine to me but I'd love to get more feedback from the experts here
Ask the seller to feel around inside the bag and inside the pockets for a liIttle white tag with 2 rows of numbers on it. I'm not sure whether this item has it or not. Also, if there is a creed, a picture is needed and the made in tag.
