Please don't think you have to eat the loss! The fact that PM doesn't remove fakes is irrelevant. Even their policy disallows the sale of fakes (as does the law) and the seller,
msfiah007 never should have listed it.

IMO, even the $6.79 shipping cost is more than it's worth.

You're right. I did contact them. I'm waiting to see if I ever hear from them. I'm not going to let this die.

If you could explain why you thought it was fake, we might be able to tell you why it's not so you don't make the same mistake again.
Because it looked kind of ruined. Some strings were coming out and stuff like that.
Plus, and this is going to sound stupid, but I thought Coach only made Leather handbags. Not cloth.
So...yeah. That is why I thought it was fake. Sorry!

Thank you.

Let me just explain my comment so you know where I'm coming from.

Authenticating can be a matter of a few minutes or can sometimes take hours AND consultation with other authenticators. Case in point - this discussion that started earlier today and is just winding down:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...-questions-here.355205/page-921#post-33143233
and this wasn't even an official authentication request, it's in the ID This Coach thread. Several of the Coach authenticators were trying to come up with a style name for a bag when we started noticing things that didn't seem right, like emblems, serial numbers, etc. Sadly for the buyer the bag is definitely fake but it took a heckuva lot more then just a few minutes to determine that. And that kind of analysis and back-and-forth isn't so unusual. If we could just look at every item posted and have an answer in 30 seconds our "jobs" would be a lot easier and go a lot faster. Speaking of "jobs", please keep in mind that the authenticators here volunteer their time. We don't get paid and sometimes we don't even get thanked, but we still try to find enough time between jobs, families and other commitments to help out here at tPF so members here don't get cheated out of their hard-earned money.

Too many requests in one post can be a BIG draw on our time, and when someone also asks for comments on the items, that stretches out the time involved even more. For me personally the time I spend here has caused some "misunderstandings" at home as well, but that's my decision and my problem and I can handle it.

So please keep that time issue in mind, and try to keep requests at a size that can be managed without taking a large chunk of time out of our personal space all at once. The longer and more complicated an authentication request is, the more likely it is that at least one authenticator will look at it and just think "I'll come back to it when I have more time."

Now for your questions:

1- While the bag is probably a genuine Coach, (which is hard to verify completely without any kind of stamp or other mark) I wonder if that Basic Bag style was a Bonnie Cashin design. Coach had other handbag designers during that period, not just Bonnie Cashin, and many of her designs for Coach had some sort of unique Cashin tag or lining, and also a distinctive Cashin style. I don't know enough about that part of Coach's history, but there are so many older bags that sellers call "Cashin bags" or "Cashin Era" that are NOT that I've become a bit cynical.

2- genuine Crescent Bag, style 9235, maybe a Cashin design but this one was probably made after she and Coach went their separate ways. Serial numbers weren't introduced until the late 70s or early 1980s and Cashin stopped designing for Coach in 1974.

3- seems ok

4- seems ok, early 1990s

thank you again and no I don't have a Coach store near where I live. I live in Tacoma, WA. We don't have a Coach store. But will research on it.
Again, thank you for your help! Have a nice day!

I just did a quick Google - Both Macy's and Nordstroms have stores in the Tacoma Mall and both should have Coach sections or at least a counter or two. Macy's probably has a bigger selection, but if you visit either one, take a swing past the handbag department just for the heck of it. Just try to NOT look at the price tags!

Or, if you're an "armchair shopper" like me, do it the easy way and check out their main website, or Coach's.
https://www.macys.com/shop/search?keyword=coach
or
https://www.coach.com/shop/women-handbags

Just remember what I said about not looking at the prices.
