Item: Pair of Vintage Coach Purses & Wallet
Listing number:68968732
Seller: shopgoodwill.com
Link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/68968732
Comments: Is the first one a basic bag #9455?
The second one, I tried to find at least the name or style number so I could search this site, but all I came up with was the Drawstring Sac Medium #4015, it has the knotted drawstring but not the pockets. The only other info I could find on a bag that looks like this, was in this link that just calls it a "bucket bag" (second paragraph). If its authentic, what in the world is this bag called?

No measurements are provided so it is difficult to ID. It might be a pocket drawstring 4021. The wallet can't be authenticated without seeing the inside but I don't see any problems. It isn't vintage.

In the future, please don't post more than 4 or 5 authentication requests at the same time. Thank you.

1- genuine, and a highly trusted seller

2- genuine but the seller needs to post better photos

3- genuine, creed wording is correct for that year and type of leather

4- the bag is genuine but like you noticed, the strap has been seriously modified or completely replaced with one of much poorer quality.not made by Coach. If the seller isn't responsive, FIND A BETTER SELLER.

5- seems genuine but I don't have any information on it. And yes, Coach has been known to reuse style numbers, whether deliberately or not is unknown

6- not enough photos to authenticate

7- probably genune, smaller bags like Swingpacks often don't have creeds or serial numbers which makes them very hard to identify and authenticate

8- there are literally THOUSANDS of bags that aren't in the Wayback Machine including almost every bag or item made for the Factory Outlet Stores. Don't ever depend on it to have complete records. The Wayback ONLY had access to a limited number of Coach's website pages and the MFF (Made For Factory) bags weren't on the website. This is probably one of them since it has the Outlet stamp. Probably genuine.

And there are a TON of fakes of older all-leather bags. I strongly suggest reading the thread here that includes the Coach Salearea Guides if you haven't already done so.
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/

AND ANOTHER CAVEAT - we discourage purchasing from sellers on Poshmark because of Poshmark's AWFUL record with fakes and counterfeits. They either refuse to remove them when reported, remove genuine items as fake, or claim that obvious fakes are genuine. Buy at your own risk. They claim to have an "authenticator" but their accuracy record is abysmal.

Sorry about all the requests...that won't happen again. I waited a bit too long to make an account here. Thank you so very much for your help and advice. I will check out that link!

Please authenticate. I think it's fake but want to be sure before I report it. Thanks!

Comment: creed is hard to read but what I can see is raising red flags

I can't see enough to be sure.

Fake. Bad creed stamping, "G" plant code, month code looks like "X". Seller description says Costa Rica but the stamp says United States.

Thank you for confirming!, I was also seeing the X month code and the wonky creed stamp.

sunshine_natti also has this fake:

Hi, I'm new to Coach purses but found myself looking at quite a lot of them to find a "new" secondhand leather purse. In my research, the style of purses I've narrowed down have left me confused. After looking at the archives of the Coach website, I'm not sure half of these are legit despite there being many iterations online with the same serial/style numbers. So I need your help. Sorry for so many items and questions!

Item 5: Coach No G30-9354

Seller: anrtreasures

Comments: This item I found has thrown me for a loop. It looks just like this 7540 style, but it says 9354. The creed wording is similar to Item 3, too. Searching for Coach style 9354, I find vintage bags like this... does Coach ever reuse style numbers? (I would think not.) There are more out there too of this "9354" style that look like 7540/7542's design.

Item 6: Coach Black Leather Crossbody Handbag #F30-9354
Listing number: 59873c12620ff7bfb306f216
Seller: easternfrey

Comments: Another style 9354 bag that looks like style 7540. The "stamp" of the logo seems really weird. Does Coach ever do this? I saw another leather bag with a giant "COACH" stamp on the bottom side of the bag that I thought was weird, I can't find the link though.
Welcome @bmanto233.

I have a couple of comments.

When comparing various bags, although they may look similar, there are usually differences. The differences could be in size, materials, linings, pockets, straps, etc.

For example:
  • 7542 measures about 8.25" wide x 4.5" high x 2.5" deep. It has a non-adjustable shoulder strap with about 7.5" drop. The back of the bag doesn't have any pocket and the leather closure with buckle that goes over from the back to the front looks like this, front and back:
    Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.10.51 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.08.27 PM.png
  • 7540 is larger. It measures about 10" wide x 5.5" high x 2.75" deep. It has a long crossbody strap with buckles for some flexibility in adjusting the drop length. The front and back buckle/strap differ from 7542, as shown below:
    Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.13.31 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.13.42 PM.png
  • 9354 is a completely different style with a pocket and imprint in the back. While the front of the flap/buckle strap looks similar to the above, it's not the same. And the back of the bag is completely different:
  • Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.17.22 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-06-01 at 12.18.38 PM.png

It's really important to remember that when comparing bags, you MUST compare apples to apples; identical styles to identical styles. Bags may look similar but unless they are the same style number, there will be differences.

Thank you all!

All are genuine.

As for #3, Coach AFAIK has never used the color name "honey". Looking through my kitchen cupboard I have 4 bottles of honey from different locations and plant sources and they're all different shades from light gold to medium brown. So what color exactly is "honey"? And with as many different shades of tans and light browns Coach had in the 80s and 90s, and with how colors can change depending on how they were maintained and conditioned, AND how colors can look completely different depending on the camera, computer or device color settings, playing "what color is it?" guessing games IMO is just a waste of time.

I've said this so many times before - don't EVER expect most sellers to know the correct name, family, style number, color name, age, exact material, where something was made, or whether or not something is "Bonnie Cashin era". A lot of times, parts of the seller's description don't mean diddly-squat. There's at least one other bag in this group with a "date" that's 10 years off.

"Honey" is in this 1987 Lightweights palette:
