Item: Vintage COACH Willis 9927 Red Leather Bag

Seller: ijk513
Comments: none.

THANK YOU!!

I just want to point out that the Willis is definitely genuine but not vintage. It's one of the 2004 Willises from Costa Rica made during the plant's last days of operation when Coach hadn't bothered to upgrade the plant's serial number stamp to make room for the extra "0" now required to show the year code as "04". Note that the creed wording is for the more recent Millenial creed rather than the original 1994 one.

Item: NWT/NIB Vintage Coach Brass Hang Tag Key Chain
Name/Number: Promo Brass Keyfob 7201
Seller: gguillot
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/NWTNIB-Vintage-Coach-Brass-Hang-Tag-Key-Chain-5bd136a40cb5aad27854acb9

Comments: This item has piqued my curiosity, especially since the seller can provide multiples. I know that vintage coach bags marked “Made in Korea” are often fakes. I also know that Poshmark is not the most reliable site for purchasing authentic goods, and that fakers have been known to create fake boxes, tags, tissue, etc. as well as fake products.

But this item is marked as “Promo Brass Keyfob 7201” and the box is stamped “Korea” so I was wondering if this could be an authentic Coach item that was made in Korea during this era? Or is this just another clever fake?

Curious minds want to know, thank you!

While I've not seen (or taken notice of) Korean-made keychains, that keychain is fine and the box is also.

I wonder if it was a GWP item, thus the "promo" designation.

It's interesting because I had one of those fobs that looks identical to that in the listing but mine shows the style as 123/123G. Mine was in a different box though:

Looking through my files, I found a photo of another one, this time with an "FS7200" label. How many versions of that did they make?

The "saved" date for the photo of the FS7200 was June 1, 2015. There might have been a discussion here at tPF back then about it. The style number is probably from around 1990 if their numbering system back then was consistent. (Yep, I actually just said that!) although the price tag looks a lot more recent, like maybe it was a return and was retagged at the outlet and maybe they were one digit off on the number. A 1990-era outlet and there were only a tiny handful of them back then) wouldn't have used an "FS" on the price tag. My files show some genuine 72xx numbers with price tags that look around 15 or 20 years old, and other obviously older 72xx numbers from around 1990 like the famous "Bean Bag" keyfob.

Something to check into later...

Both fakes? Thanks!

Note: the creed #9812 belongs to Ridgefield Flap. The first bag has almost the same design.
First isn't reportable because the pictures stink! And there's no creed photo so unless we know it's fake, it shouldn't be reported.

#2 from suz483 is fake and reportable. And in fact, suz483 has had fakes in the past:

Yup, that picture you showed was one of mine. I had 7200 and 123/123G.

Agreed. I think it looks good! Though just reading the words "flea market" immediately made me think of fakes. Someone I know told me recently how they saw a bunch of fakes at the flea market.
Yes, there are lots of fakes at the flea market too. There are a couple vendors who have tables full of obvious fake Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci. Other tables are just regular people selling things like a yard sale. I have found plenty of used authentic Coach there. I was very surprised this past weekend to find that Rogue! The seller had about 10 or so brand new current bags, both retail and outlet.

What style is that bag even trying to be? Can anyone figure it out?

I DID report it, that always-fake big metal zipper pull ring with the tiny ring on top is something I've only seen in fakes especially of older styles. The hangtag is fake too but I didn't even mention that in my report, the zipper pull is proof enough.

Interesting! I thought it was from 1994 and in fantastic condition. But 2004 and fantastic condition is ok too...
I love the bright red.

Thank you! I guessed that it was vintage by the appearance of the box and the tissue paper but I was wondering the approximate age of the item - but circa 1990 feels right. I am looking forward to receiving it!

Maybe they were made in different years and in different countries and they used unique style numbers for each country?

Hello. Sorry to interrupt your thread. I am attempting to post an Coach authentication question but can not for the life of me determine how to post my question in this "Authenticate This" Coach forum. Thank you!
