May I please request an authentication on this Casino bag and wallet in my possession? The creed is very faded, this is the best picture I could get. It looks like it says "No K_D 9924". I cannot make out the date number at all. The purse measures 8L x 2W x 5H. The wallet measures 4.5L x 1W x 3.5H, approximately. Thank you!

Yes but the pictures in the listing were very poor. Hyacinth said they looked like they might be ok but it was impossible to tell without a clear creed picture. I received them today and that really is the best picture I could get of the creed.

I thought it was from this previous request. Next time, quote the original request and reply so we can see everything together. I think the prefix is probably K4D. Both items look good. The wallet is missing the keyring. It was called an multi-function purse, #7219.

Thank you!! Sorry about the missing info, I will be sure to include everything next time. Thanks again!

If you click on the tiny red up-pointing arrow behind the name of the person whose quote appears on the quote box ("poster ID" said ' and then the arrow) it will take you back to the original post she's replying to.

OR you could actually scroll up to BeenBurned's original answer since it's right above your question.

I have never noticed that arrow before lol Thanks for pointing it out, very handy!

And thanks so much for the welcome! The site is a little intimidating.
Hi  I lurked for 6 months before mustering the nerve to post!

Completely FAKE. The serial number is a known and always fake one, the "overstamping lines" are wrong for the numbers they're supposed to be part of, and the number has been mentioned in the old Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List that's still posted at Ebay UK and could be found easily with a Google search for "coach 0444-315". There are also many posts, four pages worth, about it right here at tPF going back to 2008. That's one reason why the Rules in the first post in this Authenticate This thread says to search here at tPF first.

And since when is the word "scrAtches" spelled WITHOUT THE LETTER 'A'"? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE FAKES HAS EXACTLY THE SAME MISTAKE.

Maybe your friend didn't know it was fake, but there are a lot of ways to find out that it is.

I will look again. So if it had a metal tag it would be older than 1972-74?
FYI: From what I've seen, the design of the double entry swinger went through several iterations from its intro in the 1960s through the early 1970s. My records show style numbers 8515, 8516, and 8517, though I cannot find the supporting data since my hard drive failed a few months ago. Grrrr.

The earlier versions were indeed lined, with exposed metal kisslock frames, and the flat patterns for the leather were such that it had the side-to-side bottom seam and was flared so that it was slightly wider at the bottom. Earliest versions came with chains whereas later ones had the longer spaghetti strap. The black fabric lining was used on the last rendition of this particular style (replacing earlier striped lining, first without, then with black separating threads) and may have an outward facing cartouche imprint at the upper edge of a side panel in lieu of an interior metal tag. This would probably place its date-of-mfr somewhere late in 1972 or early 1973. The more rectangular unlinked with leather covered kisslock frame was introduced immediately afterwards (1973 is my estimate) and made throughout the remainder of the 1970s (or perhaps beyond) spanning the cartouche imprint, creed only, and creed + ###-#### periods.

I hope that is perhaps useful.

The lining on this is all suede, there is no fabric anywhere on the bag.

Hello Authenticators! When you get a chance, I'd really appreciate if you could please let me know about this one.

Item: "Coach Navy Hobo Purse"

Listing number: 65277737

Seller: Goodwill-Easter Seals MN

Link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/65277737

Comments: Thanks for the time and effort you put into authenticating things for people!

Genuine, looks like a Pocket Purse 9755 from the late 1980s. I wouldn't call it a hobo style.

Indeed, the "boxier" later design of the double entry swinger (the version with the leather covered kisslock frames and edges with binding) only came unlined. I suspect that the decision to do away with the lining led to going with bound edges in order to give the interior a more finished and clean look. Linings were useful for hiding the exposed edges and stitching on designs with finished edges. Also, bound edges permitted the use of thicker leather for the body of the bag.
