VERY bad fake!

And I'll repeat the advice I gave to another member earlier for all members who read and post here - search tPF for the serial number or in this case, just the serial prefix "J8Y" will be more than enough. There are 18 PAGES of links to posts, with 353 posts in all, that mention that serial number prefix, and from the first time it's mentioned in 2011 to the most recent one on January 26 of this year, the posts all seem to include the word FAKE. That's not a coincidence.

There are at least two other red flags but the known fake serial number is more than enough proof.

If you're bidding on that counterfeit, cancel your bid immediately. Hopefully we can get it removed before someone gets ripped off by spending good money for a bad fake. More reports are welcome, there are already 6 bids and only 12 hours left in the auction.

Thank you, I thought it looked off, but I didn't search for the serial number here first--I will definitely do that every time from now on. I have not placed a bid, and I will report the listing.

Item: Coach Butterfly Keychain
Seller: shopgoodwill.com

I'm guessing that this is genuine because it comes with a coach box, but it looks a little odd to me so I am interested in your opinions. I am not planning to bid but I am just curious. Thanks!

It's fake and if you look at the label on the box, it has the notorious "JKRSL PAVEFOB" description.

Boxes are faked too and anytime you see that description of the item, it's fake. (There are some genuine Jack Russell dog keychains but they don't come with that type of labeling on the tag or box. And there are also fake JRT fobs.)

Also be leery whenever you see that much reflection. Fakes generally reflect more because the enameling isn't flat like it is supposed to be. The hangtag is a dead giveaway too.

Cheap chain with thin links. And like whateve said, the hangtag with its hills and valleys is wrong. The top surface shouldn't have the letters raised above the enamel surface, you should be able to run the edge of your fingernail across the top surface without it catching or getting any nicks from a raised bit of metal. The best real ones should look like this,

Most fake hangtags but definitely not all are white enamel with a font that doesn't look like Coach's special lettering. The shapes of the Cs on the charms are usually way off too.

Coach has had some poorer quality key chain hangtags, but the actual fakes are usually easy to spot when you compare them to the real ones. But like with everything Coach, there are exceptions, and newer fakes are better than they were 10 years ago. Keep in mind that fake keychains especially the metal ones are often loaded with lead and other toxic substances and can be very dangerous to kids or pets.

Here's a fake hangtag and charms, they were often sold for about 2 dollars each if you bought 10 or more. The newer solid metal non-enameled ones can be trickier.

Okay, I reported the fake Coach Butterfly Keychain to Shopgoodwill.com and they refuse to remove it from their auction listings!

They say that they haven't claimed that it is authentic because they only authenticate purses and shoes and not accessories like keychains and therefore it's okay - even though it is branded as coach and the listing calls it a coach keychain!

I've exchanged several emails with them and they refuse to budge. The link for the listing is below, if someone else wants to give it a try just send a message to their customer service and include the link.

Thanks!

Their excuse is complete BS. A counterfeit is a counterfeit because it violates a business's registered trademarks or copyrights, it doesn't matter what kind of item it is. The fact that the Coach name is on an item not made by Coach is what makes it illegal, not what kind of item it is or whether or not it's described as genuine.

Goodwill needs to get their butts kicked by the Feds a few times, selling counterfeits is a felony.

I think it depends on the area that the item is coming from. I've reported two fakes where they acknowledged my email but then left the item up. And then I had another auction I bid on after verifying the item here and I got an email saying my bid was retracted because the item was removed for possibly being counterfeit. But yes, they need to get their act together.

Good morning, everyone! I've just recently dunked/CPR's/Blackrocked all my bags.
Now, I'd love help authenticating these three.
These are all my own bags, purchased in the past two years.

Regina 9983, dark brown. Isn't she just lovely? I can't imagine ever parting with her.

Station 5130, British Tan? If anyone knows the name of this color, tell me please...turns out I'm not a fan of it!

City 9790, dark brown. I do love this color. So expensive looking.

All three are authentic. The dark browns were called mahogany. The station bag is British tan. I'm surprised you don't like it. The color I hate is camel.

Thank you. I like the sound of Mahogany over dark brown, sounds lush. Are all dark browns 'mahogany'? I just purchased a Willis on ebay (authenticated here) and thought it was just plain old brown. See below.
The BT color doesn't go with much in my wardrobe, too light.

For a long time, mahogany described all dark brown bags, even though the actual color varied from year to year.
