Okay, I reported the fake Coach Butterfly Keychain to Shopgoodwill.com and they refuse to remove it from their auction listings!

They say that they haven't claimed that it is authentic because they only authenticate purses and shoes and not accessories like keychains and therefore it's okay - even though it is branded as coach and the listing calls it a coach keychain!

I've exchanged several emails with them and they refuse to budge. The link for the listing is below, if someone else wants to give it a try just send a message to their customer service and include the link.

Thanks!

Their excuse is complete BS. A counterfeit is a counterfeit because it violates a business's registered trademarks or copyrights, it doesn't matter what kind of item it is. The fact that the Coach name is on an item not made by Coach is what makes it illegal, not what kind of item it is or whether or not it's described as genuine.

Goodwill needs to get their butts kicked by the Feds a few times, selling counterfeits is a felony.
I can't contact them because I don't have an account and won't open one since they require full name, address and phone number. Since I don't do business with them, I resent having to identify myself to let them know they're breaking the law.

I found this article about Goodwill using Entrupy to authenticate items. Just a few days ago, I posted about a very obvious fake that Entrupy "authenticated" so if entrupy authenticated the POS keychain, this is yet another example of the mistakes being made.

And from that article:
As donations come in to stores, Goodwill employees will use Entrupy to verify authenticity before listing them on the site. Items found to be counterfeit will be dismantled and repurposed for other uses like craft materials or textile recycling, Ryan Smith, senior director online operations at shopgoodwill.com, told Retail Dive in an interview.

Hello! Can you please verify if my Coach mini bag is authentic?
Item Name: Coach Mini Signature Top Handle (Style #40589)
Link: Unavailable, post was removed as a counterfeit

I've searched through the forum and found this similar bag but in a different color

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you so much for your help!

It looks fine to me. The small dot on the Made In ... fabric tag indicates it was made for the Factory outlet Stores (abbreviated as "MFF"). That doesn't neccessarily prove it's genuine but it adds to the proof.

BTW, even if the listing had not been removed, tPF Forum rules don't allow linking to your own ACTIVE listings.
There is absolutely no question that the bag is an authentic mini sig top handle pouch, style 40589.

Is Poshmark still not accepting that the bag is genuine?

In fact, I have my own picture of the identical bag. ALthough I no longer have the bag, I saved the picture.

I think it depends on the area that the item is coming from. I've reported two fakes where they acknowledged my email but then left the item up. And then I had another auction I bid on after verifying the item here and I got an email saying my bid was retracted because the item was removed for possibly being counterfeit. But yes, they need to get their act together.

They've ended the auction for the fake keychain, thanks!

If anyone is available to please authenticate this. It is in the Goodwill. The Creed is on the back of the suede flap instead of inside. It is about 8 x 8. Seems like mint condition. The leather is really thick. Thanks for any help. Of course it is under lock and key so I had to look fast. Thanks.

I'm answering because I realize you're at the store and probably hoping for a quick answer.

I'd leave the bag. IMO, there are several red flags for me (although if others chime in otherwise, that's great).

The stitching on all trim is a mess.
The creed is totally illegible and doesn't (seem to) belong where it's located.
Additionally, the creed isn't even centered properly.
The turnlock (both parts) aren't like Coach uses.

I don't believe Coach made that bag.

I don't think it's authentic either. In addition to what BeenBurned pointed out, the strap was NOT made by Coach, and the creed and Coach logo above it don't look right for ANY time period, The font used in the logo isn't right, and the creed would always have been stamped onto SMOOTH leather, not the sueded raw back of the panels. Do NOT buy it.

What GW store is selling this? I'd suggest telling the store manager that it's counterfeit but they probably won't believe you.

I'm also seeing faint marks of a "serial number" but the format is wrong, the font isn't right for any known period or plant, and it looks like there are 3 sections to the number when there should only be two in genuine Coaches.

Thanks guys for such a quick and thorough answer. I had the feeling it was off, but I think I wanted to be wrong. You guys are life savers. Thanks again.

Bannable Offenses
These offenses can result in temporary or permanent account suspension. If you get a warning, please conduct yourself accordingly.

*snip* (leaving the applicable one.)

Multiple registrations. You may register only one account.
OK, please ban both accounts. Like I said before I didn't like my personal information being part of the forum and no one responded or changed my username.

Help with this Hampton Demi? Nothing sets off alarm bells, especially, other than it really needs to be cleaned. No tape measure handy but I'm gonna say it is roughly 9"x6".

Item: Small Black Zip Pouch
Seller: Goodwill ($1.00)
Dimensions: 7.5 in x 4.5 in
Comments: This little zip pouch has a creed but no style number and it doesn't have a hangtag or a small, inside tag. The creed is puffy so that caused some doubt in my mind, but it seems very well made, and the fancy stitching reminded of the old Hamptons bags, so I figured for $1.00 it was worth taking a chance.

Please give an opinion on authenticity. I had a hard time getting a pic of the creed and these are the best I've managed, but if you need better let me know and I will try again. Thanks!
