Interested in your thoughts on this one. With my luck, it's probably a no go, but the size is just what I'm looking for...I couldn't find the '307' anywhere, so I'm guessing it's not authentic. If it's not, is it the after the dash part that makes it off? I thought the inner upper rim of the bag looked off, but it's older, so maybe it just got that way with time. Is there a place where the plant codes are listed? I'm trying to absorb all I can, and I sure wouldn't ask about every bag I'm interested in. I have no idea what you guys do for a living, but I'm sure God didn't put you on this earth soley to answer my newbie questions!

I very much appreciate you helping us folks out

I had emailed this seller to ask about the white dots on the black leather above the inside zipper. I asked if they were white paint. When he responded all he mentioned was the mink oil and did not respond about the dots, which is why I did not bid on it. I'm glad to see that you're happy with it ( I saw the later posts). It's a gorgeous, big bag but I was hesitant due to the lack of response to my specific question. Best of luck with it.

Thank you more power

We've mentioned a thousand times that a zipper that is stamped YKK does NOT prove a Coach is authentic. Please stop worrying about whether or not a Coach has that brand of zipper, and don't mention YKK in your posts because it just confuses people who have read those same inaccurate "guides" on the internet and believe what they read.. Coach has used at least 6 or 8 different zipper brands, and many fakes have FAKE YKK zippers. We ARE interested in seeing good close-up photos of other brands since when they're in a genuine bag they prove that all that nonsense about YKK zippers always meaning "genuine" is completely wrong. Thanks!

Please read the six Salearea Coach Guides posted in this same forum, the guides start at post 14 and are more accurate than any other guides on the subjects they cover. Pay special attention to the posts on "Authenticity Guides" and the mistakes found in almost all of them:

It's a genuine Madison Bristol Satchel made in 1994.

Hi all,

First time posting. I bought this bag recently from a garage sale. I was researching authentication methods and was told to look for a serial number. There is none in this bag but the material and the stitching seems very well done. Is this an authentic or fake coach bag?

Any help would be wonderful!

Thanks in advance!

Please read post number One in this thread and look for the two small, usually white tags sewn inside the bag. The one with the style number and production codes is usually buried deep in the largest inside pocket. Put the lining out and get close-up photos of both tags and add them as a "reply" to your post.

Trying to save someone a really bad day; unless I’m wrong this is a fake! Just look at that creed, UGH!

The bag is fake. 0974-534 is a known invalid serial number and any bag with that number is fake.

Hi guys! Hoping someone can help me identify this bag as authentic or fake.

Item: Vintage Coach Leather Weekender 5404
Listing number: 173573934488
Seller: Swopdebbi
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/173573934488

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I tried my best to authenticate using several guides, but can’t find anything about a plant code “S” and the bullet on the top right of the Creed are throwing me off. Bullets on the top left indicated Outlet stores I believe, but not sure.

The bag is authentic. S is a Chinese plant and the font and creed are correct for the S plant.

AFAIK, I've never noticed outlet bullets (on authentic bags) to be required to be on one side or the other. I suspect that's another piece of BS from a guide written by someone who really doesn't know what s/he's talking about.

Comment: creed very faint. Here is an additional picture of the creed. The No. is visible but the numerals are completely invisible.
Have you gotten it yet? I don't see any problems but I can't say it is definitely authentic without the numbers. I would compare the inside bottom to these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Ergo...h=item3b1c75bb18:g:YEMAAOSwh1paDwgO:rk:3:pf:0
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Ergo...h=item1cad2eeebb:g:d6UAAOSwb39bEEbm:rk:2:pf:0
Also look for those half-circle pieces that cover the inside corners.

ETA: I do feel good about the No.

Can you post a clear photo of the stamping on the "male" part of the magnetic snap when you get it?

And try to bring out what's left of the serial number with pale eyeshadow, or some other light pearlized powder. The number may already be worn down too far but it's worth a try.

So far every fake 0974-534 creed seems to have exactly the same mistakes in spacing, spelling and punctuation. Here's the only clearly-stamped example in my files, they're obviously all from the same source. Nine mistakes, not counting the huge gaps between some words that could easily have been filled.

0974-534_all mistakes-a.jpg

I have the dubious honor of owning an example. Lucky me. :graucho:
