Hi! I purchased this bag from a vintage shop yesterday and not sure of the name of it. I can't seem to find any info based on the model # on the creed. The seller listed the color as navy blue but I see black even when looking at the suede under the flap and when I put it next to a black item. I'm hoping you can authenticate the bag and maybe give some direction as to the name and if it came in navy to clear up the color mystery! Thank you!

Creed No. 044-8031
Measurements: 11" w x 7" h x 3" d
Strap drop: 20"

It's an authentic convertible clutch #9635. The bag was made in the late 80s or early 90s when serial numbers were unique, and had no relation to the style. You can't google the model number on bags made before 1994. You can tell these kind of creeds because the first digit will be a letter, whereas unique serial numbers are all numeric. It looks black to me too. The best place to check is inside the pocket.

I see....the 044 is really O44. The fabric part of the zipper in the pocket is black but not sure that is still an indicator. Either way....I like it! A nice size and good condition for $35. Thank you!

So far every fake 0974-534 creed seems to have exactly the same mistakes in spacing, spelling and punctuation. Here's the only clearly-stamped example in my files, they're obviously all from the same source. Nine mistakes, not counting the huge gaps between some words that could easily have been filled.

I have the dubious honor of owning an example. Lucky me. :graucho:
Awww, Hyacinth, Thanks for this...it made a big ol grin for me to know I’m not the only one with a few fakes!

No, the 044 in the random serial number is a zero, not the letter O. The zipper is correct for when the bag was made.

All zippers in vintage bags were either black or blue, so you can't use the fabric color to determine the color of the purse.
The first digit is a zero, not a letter. The serial number is all numeric.
