Pick up this bag for 50 can’t find much on it but I feels high quality any help with authentication or what to price it at would help. Thanks.
I'm sorry, it's fake.
Purse forum rules disallow posting links to your own listings except in cases where you've sold an item and the buyer accuses you of selling a fake. When listings are active, it's considered to be self-promotion and never allowed.

With that said, ebay rules (and the law) require that sellers verify and know authenticity before listing and items can't be listed unless known to be genuine.

Unless you are expert in a brand, it's suggested that for items that you didn't personally purchase from a legitimate retailer, before listing, you post pictures and have such items authenticated.

That listing should be ended and if you can get a refund, do so.

How can you tell just so I know for the future
Authenticating isn't the type of thing you can learn in a few minutes. Those of us who authenticate have been collecting, carrying, studying various items for years. We have photo libraries with images numbering in the thousands.

As I said in my post, in order to avoid mistakes, ask here before listing.

Now I have a question for you, @David703. Once told that the bag is fake followed by my recommendation to end the listing and return the fake (that BTW should NEVER have been sold), instead of ending it, why did you reduce the price from $275 to $199.99?

SPORTSCOACH is not a Coach brand. You can legally sell it, but you can't say it's a Coach or use that brand name anywhere in your listing.

Search this thread using the term Sportscoach if you want to know more.

Hello, authenticators and fans of this thread. I'm returning with another vintage Duffle Sac 9085. Or not, as the case may be.

Item: Duffle Sac 9085
Item number: 113242783006
Seller: sydneypauline2010
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CO...l-Bucket-Tote-Purse-Bag-9085-USA/113242783006

I requested and received extra photos of the inside and the bottom. The inside is clean and the bottom unremarkable. I'm wondering if it's authentic and if you all believe it to be British Tan. Thank you in advance for all of the help.

I believe it's a gray area.

In this post, it's deemed as fake:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...ost-for-format.889527/page-1030#post-30312486
And from that post: "If there's a way to report fakes or fraudulent listings at that FB page, please do so. And post this eBay Guide link as proof, "Sportscoach" items are listed as Always Fake about halfway down the page. You should also save the link for reference.:

And in this post, it seems to be okay when not listed or implied to be Coach:

and

(Personally, I wouldn't sell it at all (legal or not) because the "creed with serial number" is close enough to cause confusion among buyers believing it's made by Coach.)

Several years ago, this article led me to believe that SportsCoach IS infringing on Coach. (And because the seller believed the bag was made by Coach, the similarity is certainly close enough to fool the public.
From the article linked above:
Generally, the court will consider evidence addressing various factors to determine whether there is a likelihood of confusion among consumers. The key factors considered in most cases are the degree of similarity between the marks at issue and whether the parties' goods and/or services are sufficiently related that consumers are likely to assume (mistakenly) that they come from a common source.

It still is a high quality bag and I need to get my money back/ I changed the listing so that it’s clear it is a sportscoach bag rather than a coach bag. I don’t really know what to list it at but hey it’s ebay so if someone wants it they’ll pay for it .

I believe I heard that Coach sued SportsCoach but I don't think they won. I think it is legal to sell, but make sure your buyer knows what they are getting. I'd be surprised if you got much more than the $50 you paid for it. Even real vintage Coach briefcases don't usually go for more than $100 unless they are a rare style or color.

I agree. You could list it as an auction starting at the lowest amount you would accept. Or you could set a Buy it Now price and allow Best Offers. Let the marketplace tell you what it is worth.

I'm sorry, it's fake.

(I missed some of the replies so apologies if I'm going over the same ground as other posters already have).

It's clearly a SPORTS COACH according to the stamp on the trigger clip, the buckles, etc., not a Coach at all. Sports Coach was a Korean company that basically hijacked Coach's name and added the "Sports" in front. They were even sued by Coach for trademark infringement but since the case was heard in Korea and not the US, the Korean court, as they usually did, let them get away with it The use of Coach's exact words in the copycat creed just by itself should have been declared a clear violation of international trademark and copyright laws.

So while it's a "Sports Coach" bag, which someone along the way has tried to conceal by sticking an adhesive label right over the Sports Coach name at the top of the creed, it's NOT a Coach, has no connection whatsoever with Coach, and is a prime example of a Korean-made copycat company trying to make buyers think it's better than it is. When selling one, the seller needs to make it absolutely clear that the company that made it has NO connection at all to the US company. In fact the name "Coach" shouldn't even be used anywhere in the listing or it can be reported and removed as Keyword Spamming (KWS).

Any time a bag or wallet claiming to be a Coach has a serial number of only 5 or 6 numbers separated by a dash and without the abbreviation "No" for "number" in front of it, it's almost 100 percent certain to be a Korean-made fake.

Coach has NEVER made handbags, briefcases or wallets in Korea. So far, no exceptions to that rule have ever been found.
