Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

For the record, it's not Coach's exact words because Coach knows how to spell "SCRATCHES" correctly.

On davdcon6's listing, the creed shows it as "SCRATCGES." (How do I pronounce that?!)

After getting a Marc Jacobs bag I purchased authenticated today on tPF, I randomly started thinking of my first designer bag bought for me by my sister. I pulled it out today after more than a decade of not using it and sadly, I think it's fake. The creed has at least two typos that I can see. Could someone please confirm for me? Thank you very much for taking a look!

It's not a strange question but even if the bag is really leather (and I'm not sure it is), the price of having it done wouldn't be worth it.

On ebay's discussion boards, there's been discussion on ways to avoid sending fakes to landfills. Some suggestions for unique and/or utilitarian uses of fakes have been:
  • Planters - fill with dirt and plant seeds or greenery and hang on fence
  • Use in house to carry cleaning supplies from room to room
  • Use sharpie to mark it as "FAKE" and let child use for dressup (but make sure the materials aren't toxic)
  • If possible to remove any name brand markings (cut out creed/pocket, remove fake name plates), sometimes the bag can be turned into a generic unbranded item and donated

Creed and hang tag cut. I sew myself and did contemplate doing something with the leather, but the quality seemed low and it's pretty thick, I think I'd probably need to hand crank even with a leather needle, so I put it in the trash.

Because I know you purse lovers would understand, just expressing that besides the sentimental value of it, I was now thinking what was my first designer bag, and it was a Coach Minetta I bought myself that I have long since sold. Sigh.

Thank you all again for your comments and authentication (uh, what would this be called? A fake authentication? That doesn't seem to be right, non-authentication, uh, verification authentication?), I appreciate this forum so much.
