Thanks for your quick reply, BeenBurned. I didn't post the listing originally like I should have, because I am in dispute with the seller, but wanted to post a neutral request for authentication. Sorry about that.

Here is the additional info:

Listing number: no listing number I can find, keywords/title were:
80s Lilac Coach Ergo Hobo Leather Purse/ Purple Coach
(Knew it wasn't 80s, but sellers sometimes make those kinds of mistakes so I let that ride).

Etsy link: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/601...rgo-hobo-leather-purse?show_sold_out_detail=1

Seller: SmokeyPearlVintage
She doesn't appear to have an ebay account.

Comments: I see your point about the wording of the listing. Seller didn't specifically use the word "authentic," but yes, I definitely took her using "Coach" as an assertion that the bag was real. She also listed the stiff, fabric-backed PU material as leather. And yet in all my life I've never seen a cow with a woven hide. Funny, that.
Hi all, I recently submitted a bag bought on Etsy for authentication and really appreciated the help. Unfortunately, I'm in a dispute with the seller of the bag, who has no motivation to refund unless forced to, because the burden of proving a fake is on me. The Etsy admin said, at first, I could submit various types of evidence to show the bag was fake and gave an "including but not limited to" list of suggestions.

So after I did a bunch of research, had the bag authenticated here, and laid everything out as clearly as I could with supporting images, I got a quick reply from the Etsy admin saying "oh, what we really want is a signed letter from an accredited authentication service."

*steam comes out of ears*

I asked for more specifics on "accredited" and got no reply. But I'll stop my rant and cut to the chase:

Can anyone recommend a reliable, reasonably priced service for an authentication letter?

I tried to search threads before asking and see that I should not use My Poupette.
Is CarolDiva still a recommended service?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for listening- I'm frustrated that I have to prove a federal case (and pretty much have), whereas the buyer's reply is basically "nuh uh, it's real" and that is apparently sufficient to keep the dispute alive.
Did you happen to refer the seller, SmokeyPearlVintage here? If she's aware that the bag is considered to be an obvious fake and has refused to issue a refund without a fight, she's not a very good seller!

I've used Authenticate4U for other brands (not Coach) and for $7.50, I've received a PDF copy of a simple authentication. I think that would be enough proof for you to prove your case to Etsy. (Other companies often charge more for PDFs and their basic authentications are emails, not usually accepted in disputes.)

Personally, I like A4U because they use brand specialists. Unlike Carol Diva who claims to do all brands but does them herself and often errs, I like a company whose authenticators know the brand they do rather than a "jack of all trades, master of none" one.

If etsy seller SmokeyPearlVintage isn't willing to pay for the authentication for the FAKE BAG she sold, I don't recommend that seller!

I don't blame you for being upset! Had the seller done the right thing (as required by law) and verified authenticity before listing that bag, you wouldn't be in the position you are now finding yourself.

Hi. I'm looking for authentication for this vintage key fob chain. It was in a box of Wheaton NJ vintage glass I picked up from an estate sale. Thanks in advance.View attachment 4157649View attachment 4157650

Is it possible for you to get a clear straight on picture (macro setting, well-focused) of the snap head with the Coach name.

Ok. That's harder than it sounds. I vt the eclipse. My camera hasn't been the same since. Thank you for the help.View attachment 4157698View attachment 4157700

Those pictures are really good.

I've never seen that font on any authentic items. It looks like some of the zipper pulls on Korean-made fake bags. (See comp below)

I don't think it's authentic, but I'm not familiar with some of the really old keychains and it may be a font used way back when.

@Hyacinth @whateve - Opinions?

There's one in my scanned Holiday 1995 catalog that's the same basic design and shape but the leather texture might be different, and while the Coach name might be on the snaphead it's impossible to enlarge it enough to be sure, much less compare fonts. Small leather goods from back then are almost impossible to authenticate especially by comparing to a TINY catalog photo. And if it was a style made just for the outlet it wouldn't be in the catalog at all.

I doubt very much if it would be early 70s, not only isn't this style in any earlier catalog, but none of the snaps even from the earliest actual catalog dated 1981 seem to have had anything stamped on the snaps at all.

This is the closest I could come, Tab Key Fob # 7249 at standard size and 200% magnification

All are authentic.
Just a comment regarding seller #3, lady.butterfly_69: Although I authenticated one of her keychain listings last night, I found that the seller doesn't verify authenticity of her listings before posting.
I just made this post:

Authentic.

Zipper brand has nothing to do with authenticity. Most fakes have zippers that say YKK and authentic items have various brands of zippers, including but not limited to YKK.
