i would like to know if anyone can authenticate this bags for me. I got them on mercari and I thought Mercari authenticates bags before you post

Both seem ok but the second one needs a better photo of the creed patch and serial number. That's isially the single most important detail needed to authenticate a Coach.

And don't be taken in by any site's claims that they "authenticate" beforehand. Most DON'T, and a few may look up the style number to see if it matches the pictures of similar styles, but that's all. None of them that I've seen actually examines the details of the items like we do and compares them carefully to photos of genuine bags. And none of them seem to have experts who specialize in most highly-faked brands.

And many sites like Poshmark, Listia, Facebook, Etsy and others have NO experts who can tell real from fake, and a buyer who ends up with a fake from one of those sites can easily get stuck with it because they seldom if ever refund money spent on fake items. They avoid paying out because most of them demand that a fake be verified by the manufacturer, and designer manufacturers simply don't do that, they don't have time to waste on free authentication or enough qualified experts to handle the volume of requests they would be getting. Their mantra is "buy directly from us, the manufacturer's store or site if you want a genuine item, we're not responsible for non-authorized merchandise". And those selling sites or "venues" won't even remove a questionable item when an actual expert reveals detail by detail why it's fake. As much as it pains me to say it, Ebay is still one of the safest sites to buy from along with Bonanza (who actually REMOVES fakes when reported).

Mercari doesn't authenticate bags before you post. Some sites have the sellers ship bags over a certain dollar amount to them for authentication before continuing on to the buyer. It is usually over $500. Most Coach bags don't qualify.

Ok .... I officially have a problem. Cant stop going to thrift stores haha. I have 1 new one I picked up. I am 99% sure its ok (and am proud to say successfully avoided one fake) but just would like the stamp of approval. Surprisingly goodwill didnt seem to care when I pointed out the obvious fake. It had signature C's inside and out, flimsy material inside and a wonky creed. But thats on them if someone buys it and complains I guess. Here it is:

So I also travel to Canada on occasion because my significant other lives there. Looking at the CA ebay I found this bag.

EBay
https://m.ebay.ca/itm/RARE-VINTAGE-...ISS-LOCKS-S-EVENING-BAG-NY-CITY-/401561882247

Item :
BONNIE CASHIN ERA DOUBLE KISS LOCKS S EVENING BAG, NY CITY
Seller kapeed
I am totally unfamiliar with the older bags but I like this style. Does it look ok? It is a deal for me because I can pay in Canadian so it works out cheaper US. Thanks!

It looks fine to me but wait for Whateve to confirm and advise.

Expect the price to get considerably higher before the auction is finished.

It looks fine. I don't think it was made in the early 60s, more like the late 60s, early 70s. The seller is in the US, not Canada.

Real or fake? Saw similar at eBay

You are quoting posts that are 4 years old. We can only authenticate specific bags. Something similar doesn't make it the same. Counterfeiters do copy authentic styles, and often there are only subtle differences that can tell us if it is real or fake.
And in fact, that bag you're asking about @Robin turner, style 10808 IS one that is faked and the fakes have the "correct" style number.

In fact, this is an example of a fake 10808, which to the untrained eye might appear to be genuine.
Seller of fake 10808: wrinklie05
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Ergo-Brown-Patchwork-Hobo-Shoulder-bag-Purse-10808-EUC/222930560188?hash=item33e7b264bc:g:jv0AAOSwZ65a14G5&_fsrp=1&_sacat=0&_nkw=coach+10808&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=0|0

And this is precisely why we can't judge a bag just because it "looks" similar.

And in case the listing disappears, the following pictures show WRINKLIE05'S fake vs. the same parts of an authentic bag.

Is that bag as pretty a purple color as it looks? That's gorgeous!!

I'm not familiar with this style either. Sorry. I only have one Mercer 24 in hologram. I didn't even know they made Mercer for outlets. I thought they were boutiques only. I'm obviously proven wrong now.

thank you @whateve, @BeenBurned, @houseof999 for your response. so i guess i need to go to coach store if i want to make sure if it's fake or not.
anyway, the seller said it bought from Las Vegas Premium Outlets, so i think the Mercer is from outlet and not from boutique?

I looked on eBay and there's a few that look like yours but none are complete in providing all the details needed for Authentication.
I'm also not really sure they can authenticate for you as they aren't trained to do so. However, an outlet employee will be able to tell you if they did have Mercers made for outlet. I know they just work there and sell. How many of the employees actually look at all the details to be able to tell difference from authentic to Coach, I don't know.
