Hi! So glad to have found this forum. I hope I'm posting correctly and would SO appreciate it if someone could authenticate this bag, thank you!!! I purchased it and had no idea how much of a learning curve there is before purchasing a vintage Coach bag.
If it's authentic, might anyone know when this was made? Much appreciated!!!!

Welcome! The bag looks beautiful! I've bought a few things at Council Thrift in Van Nuys but I haven't found anything there lately. Which Council thrift did you find this one?

Hi! Thank you! Just to be sure, here is another pic, is this the part thou wanted to see?
Also, Hyacinth, I'm wondering how old this bag might be? Was concerned because it seems totally new, however, I've purchased a few authentic bags in other brands that were totally new, someone must have purchased them and stored them in their closet and forgot about them! The leather on this bag is just gorgeous.
Thanks again, much appreciate this.

Genuine. I think it's a Stewardess Bag but you're not showing any photos of the panel under the flap where the ID pocket is so it's hard to be sure. If the strap is tapered near the ends we'd like to see that too.

It was made in the early to mid-1980s.

And welcome to tPF!

It's authentic and it is a stewardess. Hyacinth already told you it was from the early to mid 1980s.

Thanks again and apologies for phone autocorrect weirdness *thou* instead of *you*! Well, I've seen worse autocorrects than that:)
So excited that this is authentic, seemed almost too good to be true for the unused condition...but I guess it does happen.

That's really amazing! I found a bag from the same era that looked brand new in a consignment store once. Can I ask you how much it cost?

Hi Whateve,

Can I PM you about what I paid:)? Also, I just noticed that this purse came out again in 2011:
http://www.fashionfoiegras.com/2011/06/whitney-port-carries-coach-stewardess.html

I'm just wondering if my bag is a 1980's one (I hope so:smile: or if it is one of the newer ones. It seems that the vintage ones often have a 9525 number? Can't seem to find any bags with my Creed No. 747-7038. What do you think? The quality of this one is so amazing, but I haven't seen what the 2011 ones are like.

Sure, I'd appreciate that.
I'm sure the quality of your bag is far superior to the bags that came out in 2011. Nothing beats the leather Coach used from the mid 80s through about 2003. We've already told you your bag is from the 1980s. We can tell by the creed. The number on your bag is unique. From the time Coach first started using numbers until 1994, each bag was assigned a random, unique number. After 1994, creed numbers have the date, production information, and style number shown in the creed. For example, this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Me...441752?hash=item466fdca498:g:pVwAAOSwYYVaDMMm has the style number, 9525, as the last part of the creed number. The first part of the number indicates it was made in 2001.
This is the newer version of the stewardess, made in 2011: https://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-CLAS...336981?hash=item3f8b7fa115:g:LlIAAOSw94taBQpm
It has a different style number because it was made with thinner leather.
This one was made around the same time as yours, but is in much worse condition: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-...101466?hash=item520222021a:g:HHMAAOSwUn9aEbi1

To learn how to interpret Coach creed numbers, read the Salearea guides: http://www.ebay.com/gsr/i.html?uid="salearea"&rmvSB=true&rmvSB=true

especially the serial number and creed guides.

Hi, can someone help to authenticate this coach leather jacket with patches? It does seem authentic to me and its leather is very soft to touch. However I have never bought a coach jacket before, would really appreciate some professional opnion. Thanks!
