Thanks! What is your opinion on the strap? My other one, and ones I have seen on etsy have the shorter crossbody strap with the "claw". Did the station bag also get made with the other simple clasp and the adjustable buckle?
The strap may have been replaced or interchanged with another bag. Before 1997, station bags generally came with a lobster claw and nonadjustable strap, but sometimes salespeople allowed buyers to substitute another strap. I don't have any ads after 1997 showing if the strap changed, but there are quite a few station bags listed with adjustable straps.

Great! Thanks for your knowledge! I have a lobster claw on a companion that should match and then I will use the longer adjustable for the companion (which i think needs to have the longer strap for comfort).

Hi all -- I just found this group, and I'm hoping you can tell me whether this Coach bag is a fake, because I have spent hours online today googling images and learning how to spot fakes, etc. and I'm exhausted...

I bought this at the thrift store yesterday, the pricetag was $20. I thought -- OOH! Then today it struck me - hmm. I've heard about fakes. And when I googled around, this purse just seems weird. I can't find another like it.

The negatives are the embossed Coach label (sans-serif), the fact that there are absolutely no tags in the liner, not even Made In whatever, no creed. There are no grommets in the buckle, just a hole in the leather, don't know if that makes a difference. The zippers have the Coach name engraved, VERTICALLY, which is weird. The buckles (2) also have Coach engraved vertically.

Positives are that the stitching is impeccable. If this is real leather, it's in great shape. Straps are nice and thick. Liner is in great shape and also impeccably stitched. Zippers run smoothly. Everything appears to be symmetrical. If it weren't for wondering if it's a fake, it would make a great purse. If it's fake tho, I'm taking it back.

I am going to try to upload some photos here. I hope they are somewhat clear. I'm going to try them as thumbnails because the full size pictures take up too much room.

I believe it is fake. It doesn't look a style I've seen, Coach never used logo zipper pulls like that, and the logos are the wrong shape and wrong font. A purse that size would have a creed.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. OH WELL.
I did see on a site online that Coach has changed their font to a san-serif font to make it more attractive to the younger genereration, but I haven't seen that on any of their products, just their store brand name. Well, back to the store we go... Thank you!

I'm sorry. I agree that it's definitely fake.

Take it back and get a full refund.

Hi there. Could you please authenticate this bag? I'm scheduled to pick it up later today. Thank you so much!
I keep trying to add the link to the site and it shows up in editing mode but not in my post. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I don't know if this will help, it's on a Facebook marketplace page:

The bag and wallet in your pictures look okay.

The problem with Facebook, Craigslist and other online sites is that it's not uncommon that they show pictures that aren't the seller's own.

Just verify that the item is the same one as shown in the pictures.

Hi! Could you please authenticate this bag? I found this bag on fb but I'm not sure about the pricetag, looks a bit different than usual but maybe you have seen this kind of pricetag before? The jax code was a bit smaller than the style name. The style code and msfrp's space was a bit wider. I've compare it with another pricetag. The usual pricetag is the one with the serial number (left one).

Also, the carecard font color was brown, while it should be black? As I know, the brown carecard was for bag produced in 2015?

For the made in tag, does the 21 factory use tag which is not straight? I mean, the embroidery is not in the straight line.

Thank you very much!FB_IMG_1512007355815.jpgFB_IMG_1512007359572.jpgFB_IMG_1512007372366.jpgFB_IMG_1512007377638.jpgimg1512007094658.jpg

I'll start by saying that I always feel my blood pressure rise when members post to ask about Swaggers, Rogues, 1941 collection bags and some other newer styles (from the last 3-ish years) because some are incredibly well faked. The time involved in authenticating some of the bags is a lot!

We've said this many times. When comparing details of bags, creeds, fonts and even tags, it's necessary to compare apples to apples. That means you need to compare bags made in the same year and the same factory. And when comparing details of the actual bags, the bags must be the same style. (For example, you can't compare details of a swagger made in 2015 to a rogue made the same year because they're different styles.)

Assuming authenticity of both your comps, your comparison isn't a fair one because you're comparing bags made in different plants. Your burgundy bag was made in "80" factory which is in Vietnam. The black bag you're questioning is from the "21" plant which is in the Philippines.

Again, when questioning the Filippino bag, you have to find comparison bags made in the Philippines in 2016. Very few sellers show all the necessary pictures in their listings and/or they don't list the country of manufacture so finding others is tough!

Although both your bags are from 2016, one was made (in May, 2016) without the serial number on the creed and one was made (November, 2016) after they put it serials back on the creeds. Notice also that the texts of the creeds are different too.

I believe your black bag is authentic. I spent quite a bit of time searching listings for pictures of other bags to show the similarity but wasn't successful. If you can find sellers with pictures of creeds, tags and labels from swaggers made in the Philippines in 2016, please post them and I'll look.

Ahh, so the pricetag also made by the same factory? I thought the pricetag was put on the store in the US so I don't need to compare the pricetag by the same factory.

Anyway, this is the creed of another swagger by the same factory. But the pricetag is reprint so I didn't compare it with the black one

I don't know about the creeds, but I only have my doubts because of the pricetag because I've seen those font and wider space in some other fake bags but this one seems updated so I'm so confused. I've attached the fake bag with similar pricetag. Sorry i's blurred because I ss-ed it on her video.

BeenBurned -- Thank you so much! Everything checked out and I got the checkbook, wallet and bag for a great deal. "Carrie" is now at her new home in her dust bag with her other sisters and cousins. lol!
Had it not been for this site and your assistance, I may have passed on this.

I answer to your first question, TBH, I don't know where tags are made or whether they are all made in Jacksonville or somewhere else.

I do know that tags can be (and are) remade if an original tag is lost, damaged or an item is moved to the outlets.
The following is an example of a tag that was made for a bag sold at the factory outlets:
34816 factory remade tag.jpg

My point is/was that it's the details of the bag that determine authenticity of a bag. I can't tell you how many times I've seen fake hangtags on genuine bags (as well as vice versa).

As for the comp you've shown that you say is fake, I don't know if it's fake nor do I know if authentic. While the seller states that it's "original factory quality," and I'd assume you're correct, the tag may or may not be a genuine one attached to a fake or the bag may in fact be authentic. The pictures aren't enough to prove anything, other than to confirm what I've said for the last few years: With well-faked styles, buyers should either buy from trusted honest and proven sellers or buy directly from Coach.

ETA: I just thought of something else. Different parts of the country can and do have different "retail" prices on their tags. For example, while visiting in California, the prices I saw on Coach bags at Macy's were about 10% higher than they are in the eastern part of the country. And in Canada, the prices are different too.

The reason I am commenting on this is that I saw that the picture of the "fake" you posted shows a $495 price tag yet others are $450.

Thank you very much! I didn't know there are cases with fake hangtag on genuine bag. Anyway, I'm sure the bag in the blurred hangtag is fake because that account sell mirror only products and their goods are so well-faked it's terrifying!
