Hello. I have been reading through and I don't think this question has been entirely answered. It is mentioned that this style is often faked, so I would like some help. I saw that the strap stitching is something to look for, so I have included pictures of what I think is needed. Please let me know if I need another angle on anything. I don't see any problems but I'd like to see more pictures of the entire bag, the back of the turnlock, the zipper pull, and the bottom.

Thanks guys. Can anyone tell me anything about the Taft? I haven’t been able to find anything about when it was released or anything else besides the name.
Thanks again!

It was introduced in late 1995, along with a very similar bag called a Cody. The Cody apparently didn't sell as well so it was discontinued almost immediately and the Taft stayed in production off and on until around 2002. It's a HIGHLY faked style and should always be authenticated here before buying.

The very early catalog descriptions say it has a zippered inside pocket but that was changed almost immediately to an open pocket. Below is a thumbnail of the Holiday 1995 catalog listing.

Thank you so much. I’m going to hunt for a picture of the Cody bow, as that’s my husband’s name. Would be cool to track one down. Is there any way to tell when my Taft was made based on it’s label?

There's an entire set of Coach guides posted at Ebay by Salearea that I researched and wrote about 6 years ago. See post 25800 from last Sunday. The ones titled Creeds and Serial Numbers explain how to read Coach's production codes in bags from 1994 or newer.

You might want to read and save ALL the links in that post, including the ones for the Daria48 Fake Coach Serial Numbers list.

Hi Everyone
This is in my possession and now that I’m seeing it in person I'm wondering if it’s a fake.

The alternating stripes in the lining aren’t the same width.
And the size is off if it’s a 4973 Cosmetic Pouch : the one I bought measures 8.75” x 4.875”,
I checked the catalogs - 1995 Fall - and the pouch is 9” x 5.25”.

Your expertise appreciated as always, thanks!

Wait for other opinions on the coin purse/wallet in question.

I'll comment that while I don't think merlyns_outlet knowingly mixes, she also doesn't verify authenticity.

This one is an obvious fake that had little research been done, she'd have learned.

I was wondering if someone could please give this vintage court bag a look for me. It's listed on a local buy and sell page. Thanks in advance for all your wonderful knowledge!
