I'm not familiar with anything that looks exactly like that. But TBH, I'm not comfortable and wouldn't recommend buying for the following reasons. (Other opinions are welcome and if someone has the same style and knows a style number, please speak up!)

1. I've never seen an Ashley wallet (with the script logo) with the 1941 embossed marking.
2. The squared edges are "unusual"
3. The lack of any pleats is "unusual"
Thank you, very helpful. As a last ditch effort, do you think the wallet has any relationship to this purse?:

Has embossing and matching lining. Thanks again.

You think this could be Penelope checkbook wallet 42221? No idea why this caught my eye as familiar since I don't own it! Hard to find a complete set of pics so I'm not sure...

Have you tried to enlarge the creed photos? I can't give a solid authentication without being able to actually read the creed and the numbers. BTW, did you notice this in the seller's description? "I will fold this bag for cheaper postage"

Yes, I did see that. I'm not sure what this style is. I'm also unsure about some of the items from this seller. I'll go back and enlarge the picture he/she sent me. I was hoping you'd spot something obvious that I was missing.

I agree with BeenBurned, especially about the squared edges. Since at least the 1980s, Coach wallets with almost NO exceptions have used tiny pleats on at least 2 of the corners, what I would call "mitered" like how you would fold the corners of a bedsheet when making a bed. See the picture below. I looked through my wallet storage bin and the only exception I found was a Sheridan wallet from around 1994 or 1995. The quality of the stitching on the flap also worries me. And the pink ticking stripe lining is new to me too although newer wallets aren't my specialty.

I can't find anything on that style number other than a google image that takes me to a website that doesn't go anywhere.

If the wallet on Kijiji is a checkbook wallet, it appears to be missing the checkbook insert. It's possible it's a slim envelope wallet but without anything else similar to verify, I just don't feel comfortable authenticating it.

I only have a single DD pic and only of the outside. The basic details match but that's not enough to make any kind of authentication. The photo is filed under the same item name as Revvie mentioned, dated February 2009. The Wayback isn't any help.

Hello. First post. Hoping for some help with a wallet I picked up through Canadian Kijiji site (like Craigslist). Thought it looked good on first sight but am concerned about embossing under script. Thanks, in advance, for any insight you can provide.View attachment 3764948 View attachment 3764949 View attachment 3764951

Now that @Ravvie99 suggested the Penelope style, I searched that and found that some of the Penelope wallets DO have the "est. 1941" imprint. But I'm also further uncomfortable with the wallet you've asked about because as Hyacinth pointed out and as I found in my own pictures of a different Penelope wallet, the edges have leather trim. My wallet also has solid colored lining, not the pillow ticking striped fabric as shown on the wallet in question.

(My wallet shown below is style 42213.)

ETA: I posted before seeing Hyacinth's post above.

Found a full set of pics showing the ticking lining, corner stitching, and Coach tag. Clicking on the bottom left pic rotates you thru pics - there are 8-9 total. I'm now officially un-invested in this [emoji846]

Only a very few of the seller's photos so far even show ANY creed photos. And I see at least one very fake metal hangtag on one of her bags, which of course has no creed photo.

Nice detective work! A big THANK YOU! Maybe it's ok then.

And every time something like this happens, I become more and more convinced that there's some sadistic little designer at Coach who does stuff like this for the sole purpose of driving us effing crazy. :whut:

(Keeps repeating to herself "The most consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistency. The most consistent thing about Coach...")

(I too thought to myself that a seller with as many Coach listings as funkytownvintage909 has should know to show clear and legible creed pictures!)

And since you also went through her listings, I'll ask about this one from the same seller, funkytownvintage909. (Yup, I saw the fake hang tag listing but that's not the one I'm questioning.)
