The hangtag's fake too but that doesn't prove anything.

Both the serial and creed fonts are wrong, the creed font is too round, the 2 horizontal impressions above and below the serial shouldn't be there, the inside zipper is wonky, and the Coach name in the cartouche looks like it's sliding downhill at the "H" end.

The closest comp I have is one with a month stamp supposedly just one month earlier that I think is genuine, see below.

I have that same comp in my files.

I don't recommend buying that bag yet.

For one thing,. the strap wasn't made by Coach. And it almost looks to me as ifr parts of the bag have been re-stitched, especially in the first photo, the stitching is uneven and of different lengths in places. I also wonder why the leather colors on the inside pieces don't seem to match.

We've seen other Frankenstein bags before where a pocket and creed stamp from a genuine Coach was patched into a non-Coach bag. While I'm not SURE that this is that kind of situation, I don't recommend that bag while there are questions in my mind. I also want to look at other satchels from that time because there are one or two other details I'm not comfortable with. But no one should report it either until we're sure one way or the other. It may be a perfectly genuine Broadway Satchel with an aftermarket strap.

WHATEVE - did we talk about this before, did some Broadway Satchels #9891 have rivets on the handles bases while others didn't? Was it a change Coach made during production? I'm comparing it with this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...684610?hash=item1c75d08702:g:gcoAAOSwHMJYMldM
but am wondering if this one 122235684610 is actually a 9880 Classic Satchel, it's hard to see in the photos just how long the handle mounting tabs really are. Do all the Classic Satchels have rivets and all the Broadway Satchels have that extra triangular stitching instead of rivets?

Please take a look at this one, you have more experience with the style than I do. Thanks!
I think the stitching on the side looks very sloppy. It could just be the angle. Other than that and the replaced strap, I don't see any problems.

We had a discussion about rivets versus sewn handles and I wish I could remember what we had concluded. I didn't think any Broadway satchels had rivets on the handles but I don't think the bag in the second listing could be a Classic satchel as the shape is wrong. It really looks like a Broadway with rivets. I wonder if this may have been the same bag we were discussing when we had the rivet discussion. The handles can be slid off so it is possible that someone could have switched handles with another bag.

Thank you both, maybe I'll ask for more pictures of the stitching at a different angle. I didn't even notice the strap was different than the black Broadway satchel Hyacinth authenticated for me a few weeks ago, but now I see it. I bought that one and now I'm in love with this style. I was excited to see it in this color at such a good price. The replacement strap might be a deal breaker for me though, one of the things I love about the bag I have is that the strap is so buttery soft it doesn't dig into my shoulder at all, even with it loaded up.

Both are genuine, although the second one was made in the US rather than the DR like the seller says in her description.

A friend is selling this bag to me... is this really an authentic Coach Hampton Leather Bag?
D040- 7555. Please let me know.
Thank you and God bless everyone in this forum

I have recently become the owner of several "high end" bags and wallets thanks to generous donations from wealthy contributors to a well known non-profit organization that my husband works for. I would like to see if these are genuine items or if the sweet elderly ladies that gave them to me got super at some point... I have posted pics of a Coach bag and change purse (still in original white box marked with the Coach label). The bag is serial number J04U-7794, no serial number on the wallet (not sure if that is common or not?). Thanks in advance!

The purse is fake. The coin purse is probably okay. I'd like to see the label inside that says where it was made just to be sure.
