I used to have a lot more vintage items than I do now. I've reduced my vintage collection to only a few pieces I'm keeping just to look at and the rest are bags I can actually use.

How did you reduce your vintage collection, did you sell them online? I have piles of bags both rehabbed and waiting to be rehabbed and I need to do something about them!

Hi authenticators,

I think I've found a fake bag:

Item: COACH Nomad Crossbody Glovetanned leather black
Seller: eataleafvegan
Link:
https://www.poshmark.com/listings/590b98442fd0b7d45400edb3
Item number: n/a

It doesn't look at all like any other the Coach nomad crossbody bags I've seen. Plus the lining seems all wrong. Thanks a bunch!

Hey, BeenBurned! I just noticed the Nomad listingfrom eataleafvegan on Poshmark which you verified was fake was actually taken down.Someone finally did the right thing at PM.

Do the first generation Rogue bags have the "genuine glove tanned leather" stamp on the bottom? I am wondering because this listing doesn't seem to (last photo), and I didn't know if it was because it was a first gen bag?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Sold-...727639?hash=item4b18080b97:g:rl8AAOSwcB5ZFjoy
seller: berries000
Thanks
I prefer not to generalize because way too often, Coach breaks its own rules. As we've said more times than I can count that "inconsistency is Coach's middle name" and the "most consistent thing about Coach is its inconsistency."

Because the Rogue, Swaggers and other styles with "different" rules than Coach usually follows are so "well faked," I'd advise that every item not purchased directly from an authorized Coach store or partner store be looked at.

And even then, it's often impossibly (or too time consuming) to ascertain authenticity. (There have been times I've scrutinized a single Swagger bag for over an hour to authenticate it.)

ETA: Regarding the listing in question (and her other listings), if berries000 is going to be selling bags that are so highly faked and so well faked, she needs to show more pictures and the right pictures that at least give us a chance to see parts necessary to evaluate them. None of her listings show enough to determine authenticity.
I just looked at the bottom of my ostrich rogue first gen and it does not have the stamp on the bottom.
See above.

Actually, I'm not optimistic that the listing will be removed. Poshmark is one of the worst sites (IMO) for removing fakes. Generally, I won't authenticate PM listings because I don't want to encourage business there and won't add to their bottom line.

You're correct. "Someone" did the right thing but I don't think it was Poshmark. I believe this is one of the rare cases of a seller ending her own listing after learning it's fake.

I like the look and size of this black briefcase bag, on ebay,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Coach-Large-Black-Leather-Bag-Briefcase-EXCELLENT-CONDITION/332230490202?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=40130&meid=4f53060b3d27480fa1c2771ddc80d87e&pid=100005&rk=5&rkt=6&sd=352066201163
However, the only others I find in that style online are from Costa Rica. What do you think for the font for the B plant of that vintage??
I don't like it. I don't think it is authentic.

I don't recommend buying that bag yet.

For one thing,. the strap wasn't made by Coach. And it almost looks to me as ifr parts of the bag have been re-stitched, especially in the first photo, the stitching is uneven and of different lengths in places. I also wonder why the leather colors on the inside pieces don't seem to match.

We've seen other Frankenstein bags before where a pocket and creed stamp from a genuine Coach was patched into a non-Coach bag. While I'm not SURE that this is that kind of situation, I don't recommend that bag while there are questions in my mind. I also want to look at other satchels from that time because there are one or two other details I'm not comfortable with. But no one should report it either until we're sure one way or the other. It may be a perfectly genuine Broadway Satchel with an aftermarket strap.

WHATEVE - did we talk about this before, did some Broadway Satchels #9891 have rivets on the handles bases while others didn't? Was it a change Coach made during production? I'm comparing it with this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...684610?hash=item1c75d08702:g:gcoAAOSwHMJYMldM
but am wondering if this one 122235684610 is actually a 9880 Classic Satchel, it's hard to see in the photos just how long the handle mounting tabs really are. Do all the Classic Satchels have rivets and all the Broadway Satchels have that extra triangular stitching instead of rivets?

Please take a look at this one, you have more experience with the style than I do. Thanks!

The hangtag's fake too but that doesn't prove anything.

Both the serial and creed fonts are wrong, the creed font is too round, the 2 horizontal impressions above and below the serial shouldn't be there, the inside zipper is wonky, and the Coach name in the cartouche looks like it's sliding downhill at the "H" end.

The closest comp I have is one with a month stamp supposedly just one month earlier that I think is genuine, see below.
