Notes: I'm very suspicious of this bag, as the font of the serial number and creed seem incorrect.

"Incorrect" compared to what? What other serial numbers are you comparing it to?

We've said it many times - you can ONLY compare details like fonts and serial number to others in the same style bag and made in the same plant, month and year. In other words, bags from 1994 or newer with the same serial number or at least the same serial prefix. Every stamp from every plant had its own unique details and you can NEVER compare stamps from different plants.

If you find differences between that one and others of the same style and EXACTLY the same serial prefix, then worry.

Are you sure the one you own with the strap as the drawstring is actually a style 4023? Coach has made a LOT of different Slings and Drawstrings and since quite a few of them were made before 1994 it's easy for a buyer or seller to get the number wrong. I'm pretty sure the 4023s were discontinued before Coach started using the style numbers as part of the serial numbers, and so were most of the late 1980s-early 1990s Sling and Drawstring styles. And even if someone has the original catalogs to refer to, many catalog listings don't show the strap and drawstring details clearly.

Sorry just saw this. My other one is from before '94 so it is just a serial number. After looking into it more it seems my other is really the 9929 style. Sorry my mistake. I had seen them listed under both style #'s so I was confused. Thank you again for all your help! It's so great to have such an amazing resource.

I bought on eBay and received this Coach black court bag. After seeing and feeling it, I have doubts about its authenticity. Please help authenticate the bag. Thanks.

Why do you have doubts? It's genuine, made in 2005

I have doubts because it is designed a slightly differently than another Coach court bag of another color I have. Also the leather feels like it could be man-made material. I think my other court bag is older and feels more leathery. I guess their difference is just probably due to their being made in a different time and place. But now wonder about my other court bag. I will made another post to have that authenticated. Thanks so much for your help.

Coach changed the style of the court bag around 1999, if I remember correctly. The part on the front of the bag under the flap is different. The leather on the older classic bags was probably thicker too. The leather prior to 2003 or so is usually nicer.

I used to have a lot more vintage items than I do now. I've reduced my vintage collection to only a few pieces I'm keeping just to look at and the rest are bags I can actually use.

The same thing here. Collecting for the sake of collecting isn't practical when you're retired and on a fixed income, so now I only buy and keep what I actually use.
