This is a really silly post,(but not to me), So I know ahead of time it will probably be ignored and probably should!
I was here reading taking a break and am glad i read about that black duffle bucket bag being fake. I saw that bag and was interested.
Anyway, I wish this forum had a section on ideas how to use Coach bags, outfits etc.
I am no fashionista being from Colorado.
I have that gorgeous black flatiron bag and don't know really how to use it. Also I bought a Sonoma drawstring bag I like but I'm worried it is too young for me at my age. I've never been a bag lady.
Oh well.
Most fashion articles are way out in left field for me.

One of the the great things about vintage Coach is their ageless/timeless style. I've never been into handbags either, but I've developed a "late to the party" interest. ;) I'm still in the process of figuring out which styles actually work for me to wear.

Have you explored the rest of the forum? There are sections for exactly that kind of information. You can post your questions there and likely get many answers. You can post either in the main forum, main Coach forum, or the Coach vintage clubhouse.

I'm as old as the hills and I carry drawstrings and Sonomas. I don't have a Sonoma drawstring yet but if I got one, I would carry it and love it.
Thanks whateve,
I will definitely look and explore. Have not been around this site enough. I got my Sonoma drawstring for a song and it is lovely and clean (might be fake, but i doubt it). Only thing I don't like is the too long strap which is all bent out of shape when I shortened it. I will definitely use it, I love it.

I was wondering if anyone could help me authenticate this bag and possibly determine what year it was made or the name of it. It's turning out to be quite a mystery for me, I've researched a bit over the last week without much success before I found this site, hopefully you all can help me out. All I really know about it for sure is that it was handed down to my Grandma from her cousin sometime in the late 80's, how long her cousin had it before then I do not know. It defenatly needs some TLC and restoration but otherwise in great shape. Its measurements are 9.25 tall 12.5 wide and the straps are 18inches from the top to the point where they are stitched on. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Please let an authenticator confirm, but it appears to be a #4118 Riverside from the Lightweights Collection (introduced in 1990). Given the ####-### format of the ident number, the one shown was probably made btwn 1991-1993.

I believe you are correct! I just Googled the name and saw one that looks exactly like it but in camel color. What color would mine be considered? It also seems to be a rare find. Looking forward to hearing from the authenticator but I am already getting excited. Thank you so much!

Here're the hang tag color swatches for the Lightweights. See which on comes closest to your bag...blob.jpg

It's authentic. This bag can be washed but you'll want to be sure the ink won't bleed to the outside before you do it. Check out our rehab club: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club.833400/

I can add a little more. It's from a very short lived line that was probably an offshoot of the Lightweights called West End Lightweights. The only catalog I've found them in is Spring 1992 where they're listed as New styles. I can't supply catalog photos since I don't have a scanner but it's a Riverside Bag, style 4118, and made in either very late 1991 or in 1992. The color looks like Cocoa (only 4 available colors are listed), and the original MSRP was $212.

You are a doll! Thank you Hyacinth
Any idea if it is something sought after by collectors? Debating on whether to restore and sell or hold on to it.
