Item: Small hunter green "train case style" (I'm unsure of actual style)
Listing number: 262924368230
Seller: awildak

Comments: The pictures are a little dark but any help you can give me I'd appreciate.

Item: Vintage Coach prairie cross-body shoulder green leather handbag
Listing number: 162454116639
Seller: rainyg_2007
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coach-prairie-cross-body-shoulder-green-leather-handbag/162454116639
Comments: It looks really clean, I appreciate your help!

The first one can't be authenticated without a clear readable photo of the stamped serial number. We need an actual photo. It could be a Regina Bag.

The second one is a genuine Prairie Bag from 1996.

It's fake. The creed is wrong. There are silver grommets on the strap and the pocket is too big.
Thank you! I knew it was not right! The fonts are bold and the mark under the o in No. didn't match from I just saw recently. Also the letter D with dash all jammed together with no sign of marks above the style numbers definitely raised red flags!

Yes, one of the places they almost always mess up is the underline under the "o". It is just a dot for many plants, but not all. The font Coach used most of the time had squarish numbers. You can usually see it best on the "9". If the 9 is too curved, that is a good indication. Here is an example of an authentic creed with the same prefix.

Seller: piotras1967
Comment: I'm not buying but still wanted to check since this is another D plant item.

That same bag was listed by the seller and removed in January, 2017.

This post regards a fake she had in December, 2016:

And another fake from June, 2015:

Personally, I'd avoid piotras1967.

May I request an authentication / identification on two bags? They're the same style, but different colours -- a rich brown and a kind of light brown / greige. Both are in my possession (rehab candidates). There's one zippered middle pocket, a small flap pouch on the inside, and a divided outside slip pocket. the bags measure 10.75" wide, 7.5" tall, and 3.5" deep. The shoulder strap is 36" long. The numbers appear to be pre-creed.

Thanks very much!

I think you misunderstood the term "pre-creed". The creed is the stamp that begins with "This is a Coach bag..." and a Coach is only considered pre-creed if it was made before Coach started stamping bags with creeds, which seems to have been some time around the mid-1970s.

So these 2 bags are not pre-creed, but are genuine Companion Bags style 9300 and probably made between 1988 and 1990. I don't know if you're getting that misinformation from the internet, or just not aware of what the word creed actually means, but I suggest you read the six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay, especially the ones about creeds and serial numbers, to understand Coach details more accurately:

You're right - I did. Sorry! I was thinking of it as pre-consistent style number, since these don't have the letters (plant stamp? now I'm second-guessing all the terms I thought I understood!) in the prefix.

And thank you so much!

Since Coach started using the combination of letters and numbers that included the plant codes in 1994, it's easier to just call bags made before then with all-number serials as "pre-1994".

@Hyacinth I do have a question that ties in with the two bags just authenticated. Several sellers indicate when the creed stamp says made in the United States and the printing of the Coach at the top of the creed is raised as opposed to depressed, that it indicates a bag was made in the New York City plant, as opposed to other plants they used in the late 80's or early 90's. Of course, they use it as a marketing point that the bag is a New York City. Any truth?
Btw, if you haven't heard, the made in NYC bags are disappearing at an alarming rate, according to one online seller. Just wanted to keep everyone here in the loop. LOL

That's amusing. I wonder where they're all going? But candidly, given sellers' seeming predisposition to make questionable claims in that regard, if you are ever curious as to actually how rare or HTF a particular style/color/vintage is, I would suggest posting a query on the club thread Vintage Coach Photos & Chat (link = https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/vintage-coach-photos-chat.857690/ ). I'm sure that any number of the more knowledgeable collectors who contribute to that thread will be more than happy to provide you with a frank and accurate assessment.
