I searched for its style number and could find no others with that number, "6040". It doesn't look to be old enough for when the numbers were registration numbers and were not duplicated. Am I wrong? I'd love to be, I like the design of this bag! The complete number is C2K-6040.

I found a cute looking Coach on a Goodwill website. Unfortunately, I'm sure it's counterfeit. Can someone validate my opinion?

Just because you can't find another with the same number doesn't mean it's counterfeit! The style is 15 years old, it's completely possible that there aren't any others for sale ATM. It looks fine to me.

I couldn't find much with that style number either. I found this: http://qualityfromjapan.com/at-authentic-coach-signature-shoulder-bag-6040-used/ but I don't know if the site is trustworthy. However, just because we don't have a style number in our files, doesn't mean it isn't authentic. I don't see any problems with the creed or design details. By the way, it is from 2002. It's possibly a style that was only made for a short period of time.

There was a SportsCoach company - no relation. They were sued by Coach for copying them but I think Coach lost the lawsuit. Therefore I don't think it is reportable. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Coach lost the suit because SportsCoach was a Korean company and the suit had to filed in the Korean courts. When that happens, chances of a non-Korean company actually winning against a Korean company is slim to none. If the suit could have been filed in the US, Coach probably would have won.

So Hyacinth, Is SportsCoach something that should be legal to sell as long as it is pointed out that it is NOT Coach, or is it something that's considered a counterfeit Coach?
