I don't know if I am following this correctly, but this bag with a squished "STATES" on the creed is listed with 2/16 photos.by hanley2012 at same previous published link : http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...PURSE-/332128958239+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us .

Is this still the fake bag that was reported?
Forgive if I'm mistaken.
The seller was hanleyman2012.

The cached listing (of the removed fake) I'd pulled up showed a creed picture. After that listing was removed, hanleyman2012 relisted it, this time with new pictures and only a partial creed photo.

The part of that partial creed photo still showed the same squished text but she thought she could get away with relisting a fake by avoiding showing the full creed.

Here's a cache of the second listing:

Compare the creeds:

First time user, pardon and highlight any breach of etiquette . . .
Bought this at an estate sale, serial number is 0883-209 - which, I understand, places this in the 1989-1994 time period. I have found several other similar/identical online with Nos. 0698-226, 0696-232, 0401-212, 021-1119, and what looked like C4C-5267.
Approx dimensions are 16.5" x 10.5" x 4."View attachment 3618492 View attachment 3618494 View attachment 3618495 View attachment 3618496 View attachment 3618497 View attachment 3618498 View attachment 3618499 View attachment 3618500 View attachment 3618501 View attachment 3618502
Welcome to the purse forum. The bag is authentic. None of those all numeric creed numbers mean anything. They are random and unique. The style number is 5267.

There's a lot of useful information about creeds, serial numbers and a bunch of other "stuff" in the six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay. It's a very good idea to read them and save the links:
http://www.ebay.com/gsr/i.html?uid="salearea"&rmvSB=true
Look for the ones with Coach in the title, although the other Salearea Guides have good information too.

Is this again the same fake bag ?
Forgive if I'm mistaken.
Will add all necessary info in future.
Interesting about Linda, read some of the posts. Will avoid. Why doesn't ebay care?. I would rather buy from someone who sells few bags and maybe trying to sell some of their personal bags, but who knows how to distinguish that.

That should be obvious - look at her numbers, and figure (this is JUST a guesstimate since I don't sell but I'm sure someone will correct the number if it's too far off) that Ebay and Paypal make maybe 50 cents to a dollar in fees for every ten dollars an item sells for. Over 657,000 Feedbacks at maybe a $50 average price for simplicity means roughly 30 million dollars in sales - she claims sales of 25 MILLION dollars per year - from which Ebay collects probably a minimum of one million bucks. PER YEAR. She also knows, with Ebay's help and financial backing, how to advertise herself and her business.

And you ask why Ebay doesn't care ??? They DO care - they care about that easy million bucks plus that she adds to their bottom line every year. If you think Ebay cares about ANYTHING besides money, you're kidding yourself big time.

I'll correct you since you've underestimated what ebay takes from any of us who sell (and from buyers since sellers have to cover their expenses in the prices of their items).

In "our" category of listings, ebay fees are 10% (including fees on shipping) and Paypal fees are approximately 3.5%.

So on her $25M per year, ebay collects $2.5 million and paypal collects $875,000.

if you were ebay, would you want to lose that income? (I'm guessing the Linda probably pays a slightly lower percentage than us peons because of her volume, but they still collect a hefty amount from her.)

Had no idea. Not really paying attention I guess. Had not run into a seller with that kind of volume until this introduction to L----., and did not look into what PayPal and Ebay was making.
I'm hoping my purchases were from mom and pop enterprises. .
Where does L---- get all her stuff? (that's not fake) Wow, second hand merchandise has become big business.

Top rated sellers get a discount of at least 20%. I imagine very large sellers may be able to negotiate better terms.

That's the million dollar question. At least some of it is consignment. DH thinks she probably has agreements with thrift stores. She may have employees scouting estate sales.

I would imagine she sources many estate sales and scouts auction.
I know she purchased 2 pieces I had up on eBay a few years ago.

Those are pretty hefty commissions both ebay and Paypal are taking. I don't know which is worse, doesn't ebay own Paypal? Can't see why their fees are so large. Looked at L----'s sale volume and yeah, huge.
The problem is thrifts in my town don't have anything good and when they do, they charge more than ebay. Also employees I've talked to at them say there is a big theft problem with employees taking the more valuable stuff and probably selling it on ebay. Now I know where all the fine things went that I had to let go for nothing at my mom's estate sale in 2009 when no one was buying anything
Flea markets some good things every year or so, a lot of traveling to try to find a bag or two.
At least there are concentrations of them from which to choose on ebay.

Ebay and Paypal used to be the same company but they split a few years ago. Many major selling platforms take more than Ebay. Tradesy takes 14.9% and Poshmark 20%. Bonanza has a sliding scale and on some sales, they take more than ebay.

The thrifts near me hardly ever have anything good. In the rare case, they get a Coach, they put it in a glass case with a $100 price tag! Many thrifts, including Goodwill, are pulling out all the best stuff and selling it online themselves.

Ebay and Paypal are separate companies. They split in July, 2015.

As for thrifts, yard sales, consignment stores, craigslist, or other sources, one can find steals and one can find ripoffs. Whether you're buying for your own use or looking for deals to flip, you need to know your items. (For example, on a recent trip to my favorite thrift store, I got an authentic Gucci wallet for $6.99 (plus another 30% off with a coupon) because they didn't know it was genuine. Yet behind the counter were several very obvious fake Coaches, Dooneys and LV at prices ranging from $29.99 to $129.99.)

Unfortunately, getting items authenticated before purchase from thrift stores and yard sales wouldn't be practical because the risk is that it would sell before you got your answer.

Some thrifts have 7-day return/exchange policies so you can buy the item, submit pictures for authentication and if fake, return it within the week.
