VTG COACH BROWN LEATHER CROSSBODY BUCKET BAG M4N-4154 MADE IN THE USA
Seller : alittlelux (5055)

Very jealous about the Gucci wallet. I never seem to find really good deals like that.
However, I would not have known it was Gucci ! I just buy for me or gifts. Fortunately my nieces love good second hand things more than I do so they don't mind getting them!
Bonanza ripped me off! I found a gorgeous burgundy - ish Coach Italian Bridle Hobo in lovely condition for GREAT price (to me) and bought it, but it had already been sold! I was not happy.

You're correct. The bag from alittlelux is fake.

As for the bag on Bonz, in their defense, it wasn't they who ripped you off. It would have been the seller who didn't keep track of her listings and what sold on other sites.

Ebay and Paypal are separate companies. They split in July, 2015.

As for thrifts, yard sales, consignment stores, craigslist, or other sources, one can find steals and one can find ripoffs. Whether you're buying for your own use or looking for deals to flip, you need to know your items. (For example, on a recent trip to my favorite thrift store, I got an authentic Gucci wallet for $6.99 (plus another 30% off with a coupon) because they didn't know it was genuine. Yet behind the counter were several very obvious fake Coaches, Dooneys and LV at prices ranging from $29.99 to $129.99.)

Unfortunately, getting items authenticated before purchase from thrift stores and yard sales wouldn't be practical because the risk is that it would sell before you got your answer.

Some thrifts have 7-day return/exchange policies so you can buy the item, submit pictures for authentication and if fake, return it within the week.

These are my best non-Coach thrift finds.
Gucci purse $3
Fendi purse $5
Dior wallet $7.50
Ferragamo purse $2
Not as much of a bargain, but my favorite: Balenciaga purse $39.99 (retailed for $1145)

Most of time I find the best things when we are traveling so I don't have the option to return if something turns out to be fake.

Wow, what great finds (and prices) and I am jealous jealous jealous!!
Haven't found any Coach bags in our thrifts here in Western New York in the two years since I started collecting.
But I will keep looking - the hunt is part of the fun!

Wow, those are some scores. Very jealous too. Some ladies with sharp eyes get all the goodies!
Most of them I haven't even heard of let alone would be able to identify.
Probably look expensive though. I'd say the $39.99 is quite good enough.
I'm happy with simple straightforward Coach and am confused enough over them!
Another lady katev on the rehab thread found a whole bunch of Coach Italian Madisons and a gramercy for next to nothing. Rehabbed them beautifully. Quite a collection. I really love the Royalton bag.

Two years ago we went to New York, but missed the western part. I found a Coach pocket purse in a thrift in Poughkeepsie for $20 but I didn't buy it because it was going to be half-price the following day. When I went back it was gone. We didn't do much thrifting in New York, but I found the Fendi in Pennsylvania.

I never found anything where I live in California for ages, but then I found the Gucci in a town 75 miles away, and the Ferragamo in my own town. I've found a few Coach at garage sales and thrift stores in the area in the last 4 months. So don't give up!

It's so hit-or-miss that you'd have to go daily to avoid missing that special treasure. But who can do that?

The other day DH was talking to a guy who went to a thrift store daily. Once in a while I'll be lucky and hit it right. Once I grabbed a court bag for $2 right when they brought it out. More often, we'll get to a store and they'll say someone just bought 30 Coach bags an hour ago! Most of the time we aren't at the store on the day they are giving discounts, and since we are from out of town, we can't come back.

All that talk about thrift stores wore down my shopping resistance! Would you kindly authenticate, please?

Item: Madison (9725?)
Dimensions: 10 x 7.5 x 4
Seller: Salvation Army (in my possession)

P.s. I've been lucky enough to find several auth. vintage Gucci bags, paid $2.99 for one!

I live in Colorado where I doubt anyone has Gucci or knows what it looks like outside of Denver!
The others you listed I don't know about at all but will look at threads here to see what they look like.
I did want to ask someone, have read about some bags being vachetta leather, what does that look like and is it honey color ? If Coach uses it, would they state that type of leather on the creed?

I found my Gucci in Bakersfield CA where I doubt anyone has ever heard of it or any premium brand. That is probably why it was so cheap. If they found a Coach, they would mark it up because that is a brand they know.
Some vachetta is a light tan color, which darkens to a honey color naturally, from the sun and contact with skin. Coach has used it on many bags and sometimes on just the trim, but it usually doesn't state it on the creed. Some of the vachettas they used were dyed so they can be any color. You can kind of tell because the leather doesn't respond to cleaning the same way. If you do get a vachetta item, at least one of the undyed tan ones, the best way to clean it is with vinegar. Water will darken and stain it.
