I always send an ASQ asking about any stains, pen marks, odors such as cigarette smoke or other damage. If the seller doesn't answer, I don't bid. I think if the seller answers and claims there's no problems and it turns out that it DOES reek of smoke, the buyer has a valid SNAD claim.
I USUALLY do as well, but sometimes it's a last minute bid and I can't pass on a bargain lol!!

So did *someone* get the message that peppermintpatti68 's listing with all the fakes was removed?
WOOHOO! Great job girls!
"We had to remove this listing from the site and you're not required to complete the transaction. If you've already sent payment, the sale should process as normal and you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any questions about delivery, please check tracking or contact your seller. If you run into any trouble along the way eBay is here to help. Please visit the Resolution Center to help resolve any problems you may encounter."

But I must say that does nothing to help the buyer if they are unaware of the problem.
Read the highlighted text - if payment had already been made the buyer would have no idea that they just purchased fakes and would probably just continue along!

If she claimed not as described, you'll get a defect whether or not you allow the return. If you aren't top rated, it won't make any difference to you. If she is willing to keep it, I would go that way, as long as she isn't going to give you negative feedback.

As a seller we just suck it up, apologize for the bag not working out, allow the return, and then block them from ever bidding on anything of ours ever again. There is no way of fighting the nonsense - just let it go and move on. We don't want or need the drama nor the negative feedback.

I have a couple of suggestions.

She's admitting that it's her mistake in not understanding the measurements so if she were to claim SNAD, chances are she'd find herself on BBLs for her lie.

But the fact that she's agreeing to list it herself if you don't take the return bothers me a bit. Why even contact you if she's a seller and is willing to sell herself?

You can respond nicely, telling her that you appreciate her offer to resell and since you notice she's an experienced and trusted seller (kiss a$$ plus let her know you know she's able to do it), she'll have no problem getting her money back.

You can offer to take the return as a goodwill gesture but since the return isn't due to your own error, shipping in both directions would be at her expense.

Perhaps she'll realize that if she's out of pocket shipping, it might just be easier to sell it herself.

As a reseller myself I'd like to give you my opinion.
As a seller, I would NEVER force
someone to keep something they were very unhappy with unless it hurt me in some way,
why not just be flexible and gain a new customer or referral?
Just my humble opinion!

Tried to get on here last night but it was down for maintenance so only now getting a chance to say thank you to all who replied. Thank you!!!:D

I think I may try BB's suggestion, flattery and redirect that she should relist, but then also be willing to accept the return. A few notes-- I don't have a shop but I do have Top seller rating, the buyer already left positive feedback at least a day or two before she requested the return, and she has offered to pay return shipping. I still don't understand why, when shipping is nearly $10 each way on a bag that only sold for $49, she would pursue this avenue rather than sell it herself.

Just wondering if a seller would still get the dent if they buyer agrees to close the return request case.

As I understand, if the case is opened for anything other than buyer's remorse, the seller gets a ding and it remains.
That stinks..... We have had several cases opened for not as described for such things as wallet does not go with their bag, etc. Stupid things that should go as "other". One was that a buyer bought a tote, but changed her mind when she got it and wanted a crossbody. She opened a claim as "not described". No wonder we have plummeted to bronze.

The "COLOR" of your power seller star rating only reflects the total number of your transactions -
it has nothing do to with ratings, defects or feedback.
You have to have a certain amount of sales each month to get different stars and keep them.
They are completely pointless at this point on ebay. Nobody knows or cares what color star you have
as it does not reflect anything other than what I said above.

Thx, I just went to the dashboard & saw that.

Just got this message today:

Good Day,
I see your coach things for sale, does this tote have the zippers yzz on them? I see all of your coach are buy it now, except for 2. Can you tell me why? Seems weird. Are they authentic? Do you have any bags? tags? reciepts?
thanks,
B

This is the kind of mess we have been dealing with. smh..... No strength to even answer. BBL

Ok, no more ebay chit chat for me. lol This is for authenticating.

Yes, they still get the defect.
Ebay's reasoning is that at some point in the transaction the buyer had an issue
and even if it was resolved the goal is for the buyer to NEVER have a problem at any point.
Yep, even if the buyer is totally wrong, can't read, doesn't read and doesn't want to do her homework before buying.

I'm so sorry! That's pretty terrible! Knock on wood I don't think I've ever had a message that bad.

As long as she didn't claim not as described, you won't get a defect. A buyer can give good feedback and still open a SNAD return. If she claimed SNAD, even in error, and doesn't return it, you still get a defect. If you are top rated, if your defect rate gets over 2 percent, you'll lose it.

Yes, I've had two. If a buyer doesn't do a normal return request, you don't get a defect but if they claim SNAD, you do. I think it is very easy for a buyer to claim SNAD without meaning to. I had one buyer say it wasn't the shade of green she was expecting (in order words, it didn't match whatever she was trying to match.) I know it does no good to argue but I can't just roll over. So in both of my cases, I tried to work it out with the buyers. They both ended up keeping their items. I believe they had no idea I got defects for their requests.
