Link (if available): N/A

Comments: I will admit, I got this at GoodWill but I do work there, I have worked there for more than a year and I do get to see first hand what goes in and out, also my opinion in the authenticity of items is appreciated. Anyway, us employees earned half off any and all purchases and this was a purchase I made cause it's very pretty and who wouldn't at half off!! The tag said $24.99. Anyway, here are the pics I took with my iPad. I have a strong feeling this is authentic but I really need more info.

It's not a Poppy style, it was called a Signature Stripe Studded Lurex Tote

Hi everyone! I have been wanting to dabble in a rescue/rehab project for a classic bag (potentially using dye as well) but I wanted to make sure of authenticity first. I need a test run before helping with one of my mom's old station bags!
I grabbed this at a thrift store - very soft leather, but pretty beat up, so even if it's not authentic I guess I can always wash/dye it and see what happens. Please let me know if you need measurements or anything - thanks in advance!!

Front, I think:

It's authentic.

I don't think experimenting on a fake would help you to determine how Coach leather would respond to the same treatment.

Thanks! Any idea on the name of the bag or approximate age? It's hard to tell with these old-timey style numbers!
When they have unique style numbers we need measurements in order to identify. It looks like it might be a swagger #9820, if the measurements are around 12 x 7 x 4. The creed indicates it was made in the early 90s.

Hi - Please authenticate and identify the style if this is real?
I've asked the seller for a clearer photo of the creed in case you need that.
Thank you!

I'm seeing J7B-4174 which would be a Flatiron Zip as Whateve said. Here's that bag's creed compared to one from a genuine Flatiron Flap with the same prefix. The details of the creeds and serials are identical so it looks genuine.

As long as we are talking about Flatirons, what do you think of the wonky creed in this one?

I'm assuming it is fake because of the lining.

Thank you again, so much! I will take some measurements when I get home and report back. In the meantime I am studying up on all of the rescue/rehab threads to see what can be done....

Never assume.

I've seen at least 2 other possibly genuine Flatirons with striped linings. They must have had a lot of that stuff left over when they discontinued the Sonomas. But I've also seen Flatirons with that lining and serial number stampings that don't look right for the plant and month, but there seem to be a lot of variations in serial numbers from the B and C plants during that 1997-98 period anyway. It seems like almost every Flatiron has some oddball quirk that makes it a bit different from all the others. I've seen one that is probably fake with the striped lining but I'd still wouldn't feel comfortable reporting it.

It's Questionable but there just isn't enough evidence to call it anything else, although I'd be surprised if a fakes maker would bother to have a striped lining made for an off-the-wall line that was only in existance for a few months. I'm not even sure what color the hardware was supposed to be! It looks silver in the few catalog pics I have but there's no color mentioned in the descriptions. Frankly that line drives me nuts. :cray:
