It's authentic. You won't find anything searching for the serial number since this is an actual unique serial number. No other bag has the same number. Until 1994, the numbers Coach stamped in bags were unique and didn't mean anything. The style number is 9085 and it is called a duffle sac. If you search by either of those terms, you should be able to find many. Your bag was likely made around 1989-1991. Forest green was a color shown in the 1989 Fall preview catalog.

No, it's not so obvious - fake bags can have genuine-looking turnlocks.

Look at the creed photo:

Even without being able to see the serial number, that tiny gap near what would be the upper right corner of the border around the creed is what proves it to me. You'll ONLY find that exact gap in a handful of bags made ONLY in the "C" plant between September (J) and November (L)1994. It's as good as any fingerprint, but unless someone has a large photo library of both real and fake creed stamps, they probably won't know that. The damaged stamp apparently was repaired or replaced some time in November since I have examples of both versions in my files.

BTW, if you don't know about things like month codes and plant codes, you'll find all the answers in the 6 Salearea Coach Guides posted here at Ebay:

Wow, thanks! You are an absolute fount of information, Hyacinth!

Not interested in purchasing, just curious about this listing... Is this an authentic style Coach put out? Willis in the Sheridan styling?

Seller: 2011jneville
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/252611877095
I can't authenticate this particular bag without a creed picture. Coach did make a similar style. It wasn't called a Willis and is smaller than Willis. It was the Elliot bag #4235. It was probably made before Willis was introduced.

Help! This is from a private seller. It's a great deal at $20 but it's a few miles away and I don't want to waste my time. I think it looks ok but I want a second opinion.
I see problems with it. They did make some outlet versions of the Sophia but I don't see any with a long strap like that. Every Sophia, whether FP or MFF, has a three part long strap so it hangs properly along the bottom of the bag. I had the FP version of the croc Sophia and there are many differences. For one thing, the croc pattern should be centered. The scales are bigger in the center and get smaller at the sides. On this one, there are more small scales on the right side than the left. I don't recall them making a MFF croc Sophia. I remember when they started making MFF versions of Sophia and the creed on this one predates those by almost a year.

Is this Willis bag real? The seller said she purchased it a few years ago. I asked for a picture of the serial number and am waiting for that. I'm more familiar with vintage Coach, so this creed gave me pause. I know that Coach stopped putting the serial number under the creed a couple years ago, but I thought that they stopped making the Willis bag a couple of years before that.

Here is the picture of the style number. I called Coach customer service and they said the Willis was last made about 2013. She did say about, so I suppose it's possible it was still made in 2014?
