This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

I haven't. I never report without checking here first. I didn't know there could be an extra hyphen in the serial number of authentic bags. Learned something new.
Extra hyphen is only okay on some creeds from certain plants only during certain years. That is why it takes a really long time to learn how to authenticate.

They're both ok, although the Seattle Goodwill staff should know how important a creed photo is.

I think the official name is Hamptons Framed Leather Purse probably from Fall 2004.

Thanks Hyacinth. I've asked Goodwill to post a creed photo.

ALSO, in regards to a seller's account getting a ding for selling, or trying to sell a fake bag on eBay, how can one see that the seller has a ding & how long does the ding stay on record? I'm asking because a few months back, I had a listing removed by eBay. I contacted them & told them that I had the Coach Bean Bag authenticated by this forum & the eBay rep said she didn't know anything about "Authenticate This Coach". The rep said to take it to a Coach Store & ask there. I informed her that they know nothing & even less than nothing about vintage bags. (The bag in question was a Riding Bag Spectator Saddle Flap Crossbody, white w/ brown trim 063-3049. From my notes, I since sold it.) A few years back, I also had a coin purse that I purchased at a Coach Company Store removed by eBay. How should one handle this when you know your item is authentic & eBay removes it, assuming you don't have a store receipt? I resent having unfair dings on my account.

That is outstanding! Thank you so much, most protests ring hollow but this one was so convincing I felt the need to push and looked for hours before finding you wonderful ladies. I am more than relieved it turned out to be authentic. Thank you for providing this forum as my brain was getting quite twisted trying to figure it out myself.

The "Take it to a Coach store for authentication" is just one of the many fallacies, misinformed suggestions, invalid so-called-Rules, and outright LIES that we've warned buyers about for a very long time. Most of them show up in some almost always anonymous "Authenticity Guide" that gets posted for eternity some place on the internet like Ebay and continues to give incorrect and even dangerous advice long after their "writers" have vanished without trace, hopefully to a very special hell reserved for copycats and idiots who can't or won't check their statements before posting them as fact.

I've researched and written a series of six Coach Guides that Ebay seller Salearea asked me to do and that are posted in Ebay's Guides section. They cover things like creeds, serial numbers, and much of the bogus nonsense that appearss in those "guides" and misleads so many buyers. You can find them here - do yourself a favor and read and Save or Bookmark them, they could prevent you from making a dangerous and expensive mistake when buying other Coach items. The two on the facts and Myths in "Authenticity Guides" and on the infamous and completely wrong "YKK zipper myth" should be required reading before buying or selling Coach. I'm posting multiple links because Ebay keeps changing the URLs of the Guides pages:

or

Hopefully Whateve or BeenBurned will answer that. I don't sell on Ebay and have never had to deal with that situation (false complaints of Fake or SNAD by dishonest or clueless buyers being one BIG reason), my heart goes out to anyone who does.

is it maybe a zipper pull charm????

The seller says in the description "These charms make a statement keychain or to attach to the ball and chain on any handbag. This clip is small so it does not clip to all coach bags..So it's best to attach to the HANGTAG chain." so that's it's actual size compared to a hangtag. The only hardware the clip will probably fit on is a hangtag chain. Other than that I don't have any idea what it is or whet it was called.

If your account has a ding, you'd see it on your seller dashboard. Different types of "dings" are weighted differently but a trademark (counterfeit) ding is probably among the most serious and there's only a limited number you can get before being suspended.

I don't know how long ago your listings were removed or if (at this point) it's worth or even possible to get it removed but as you found, TPF authentications aren't usually accepted in cases of disputes or listing removals. (There have been occasions where the "trust and safety" ebay personnel person is a handbag person too and might be aware of TPF and the expertise of its experts but that's not usually the case.)

In cases where you need to prove something, you would probably have to obtain a professional authentication and document attesting to the provenance. Basic authentications are < $10 and depending on how the company sends the document, ebay has been known to accept that. However, there are cases where they demand the long form and depending on the brand being authenticated, the price can vary. I think Coach is around $35-40-ish - but don't quote me.

And in fact, there have even been cases where authentication has been proven and the seller has to become a thorn in ebay's side in order to get that black mark removed! (I've been there!)

I'd like to make a comment on lisacollecting. Personally, I don't recommend her.

She has a long history of cannibalizing keychains, wristlets, and other items and selling the parts separately, often as "Coach keychains" although the item she's selling wasn't made (as shown) by Coach. She doesn't disclose that her "Coach" items have been altered.

She's been discussed:

^^^ I was able to find a listing of that item:
