So, is it really safe to say if I feel ok about it and use common sense, I wouldn't need to post NYC creeds to be authenticated? I don't want to seem like a newbie by posting them for authentication and everyone thinks, "duh".

You're probably safe, but no one here is EVER going to think you're silly just because you're careful. And just because we haven't seen a fake NYC creed before doesn't mean they don't exist. Never say Never.

Indeed, never say never. I had once thought that Italian-made #44xx Madison-line bags were not counterfeited given the "caviar" leather and the fact that these "top-of-the-line" bags never sold in anywhere near the quantities that other popular style lines did. Then a few months back I happened upon a fake one (ref. Post #12609, Feb 5, 2016). So that burst that bubble. It seems as though if there's a market, some fraudster will eventually try to exploit it.

Here's the post but unfortunately, I couldn't pull up a cache of the listing nor did I save any pictures.

i deciedednot to bid on this....can someone tell me if this bag was ok? the font on the creed looked funny to me amd the 3 active bags on ebay looked different.

Excellent decision.

The font of the serial number is wrong, the font used in the creed is wrong too, the letters are too round. And the Coach logo also has the wrong font. Here's a genuine H5D- serial, compare it to the fake black "Taft" #9980. Also, the leather zipper pull isn't right, and the shape of the front pocket flap is wrong too

Help! I planned buying both 9927 in brown and black and came across this listing where both is for sale together. The brown one however has a weird looking No to me.. I have a feeling the brown one might be a fake (?).
Item: Coach Willis Station (listed name)
seller: 2411tts
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Coach-Wil...350776?hash=item2a6ec9e1f8:g:axQAAOSwV0RXtONO

The brown one has a known fake serial number with invalid month and year codes, PIL-9927, it's in both my list of fake numbers here at tPF and in Daria48's list at Ebay. The padded area above the turnlock isn't shaped right either, the listing picture is a good chance to see the difference.

No, it's a bad fake. Just about every detail on it is wrong. And why would the creed patch in a FABRIC purse say the purse was made of glove-tanned COWHIDE? CORRECTION - "GLOLE tanned cowhide". And "full-CRAIN leather"?

Counterfeit, and illegal to sell or trade anywhere in the US under federal law.

Thank you for confirming Hyacinth! I am not good at remembering numbers but side by side the brown one was different in size. Very close but not exact dimensions. I will go ahead and report.

It's always reassuring when ebay does the right thing. There are so many fakes and many reports seem to be ignored. I'm glad they recognized this one as a counterfeit item!
