Hi! Could I please get an opinion on this bag I saw while thrifting?

Item: #9085 Duffle Sac
Found: Thrift Store
Comments: I saw posts stating this is a highly faked style & believe my thread research points to a fake but would greatly appreciate authenticator knowledge.

D5S-9085: I did see Hyacinth's post from 2014 stating S codes from US plants from the mid-1990s were believed to be fake & thought I'd check for updates.

Buckles stamped "Solid Brass": From reading, that stopped in mid-80s?

Several grommet fronts have turned silver.

I also checked the recommended known fake serial numbers list but don't think I saw this listed.

Thank you!

There aren't any updates - S plant codes with US creeds from the mid-90s are always fake. Period. The only possibly genuine bags that may have used that code were business and travel bags but even that's not confirmed and I can't find any of those earlier than 1996. Those are ALL from China, no exceptions.

The strap grommets are too silver, the creed is stamped much too low on the pocket, and NO bag from the mid-90s would ever say Solid Brass on the buckles. I'm sure anyone who owns a genuine example could find one or two other problems. That fake serial number was found a LOT in fake Duffle Sacs, or in fake Station Bags with Duffle Sac style numbers.

The Solid Brass buckles were phased out by the end of the 1980s except for one specific purse line, and even that was finished by 1992.

Please authenticate if possible. This seller has been discussed recently here and on the Coach Hall of Shame. Is this bag genuine?

Item: Coach Handbag Purse Metropolis...
Seller: PursesTimeAfterTime

Although some of the IDs have been suspended on multiple sites, I (personally) don't recommend any item from any of the following IDs on any site:
pursesTimeAfterTime aka Botticelli4grace aka absolutelybetterpursedeals aka Purses2ndTimeAround

The seller lists and sells fakes, has no conscience and freely and knowingly rips buyers off.

There might be occasions where I'll happily confirm that one (or many) of her items is fake.

BTW, this bag is fake, seller knows it and it's this bag that got her booted from ebay and Bonanza:

It's fake. In addition to the problems you mentioned, the plant code S was a China factory and wasn't in use in 1995. And the elephant leather texture is a red flag.

I'd take it back to the store and demand a refund.

Yes, it's fake. As far as I know S was only used for China. Solid brass stamped on any hardware not on a NYC bag is suspect.

Thank you, BeenBurned, Whateve & Hyacinth! I appreciate the added info & reassurance that I wasn't missing out on a big ol' vintage bag. Thanks again for your time & knowledge. Happy weekend to you!

Thank you. I reported the fake "station bag" to Etsy.

Could you please take a look to authenticate? Thank you!

Item: Legacy Slim Duffle (I think?)
Dimensions: about 9H, 10W, 2D
Seller: Goodwill
Comments: The leather seems thin and stiff, especially the straps...

It's fine. I think the leather is thin on these. The straps were made stiff on purpose.

Hello all. Is this one for the Hall of Shame or did they ever make the mid-1990s Madison-line styles in the US and was there ever such a thing as a style 4437?

Item: Excellent Condition Vintage Coach Cross Body Purse
Listing number: 151975007891 Seller: caju6434 (2916 )
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXCELLENT-C...007891?hash=item23626a9693:g:Z2AAAOSwoydWtVc7

Comments: The turnlock style look Madison and the leather "caviar" in nature, but the strap is definitely nothing COACH would release, the what appears to be a (black) fabric lining not the same color as all the other Italian Madisons, the "GAD" in the number below the creed patch, and a Made in the United State Madison. What am I missing? And here I thought that Italian Madisons and Gramercys were exempt from counterfeiting.

Any and all expert input would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's fake.

BTW, NOTHING is exempt from being faked. If it's desirable, it's faked.

Style number 4437 wasn't even a leather Madison bag, it was a Soho Twill Stripe Small Hobo from around 2004. The photo and description are from the Wayback:

LOVE2SHOPDOTBAGS

She has another fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-COA...763122?hash=item5b1feebb32:g:WhEAAOSw--1WsekY

At this point, I don't recommend love2shopdotbags

And yet another fake, supposedly from 1996 with a Chinese plant code:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Vinta...159568?hash=item4af6cc3b50:g:gRwAAOSwX~dWjLA6
LOVE2SHOPDOTBAGS is on Tradesy. Her closet is called Kay J. Unfortunately Tradesy links don't work on the forum. The bag with the M4N prefix is on there. Some of the others that were removed from ebay may not be there; I didn't see them with a quick look.

She also has this bag listed with a 99999 style number.

ETA: Which listing is the M4N one. I wasn't able to find that one.

I don't know whether this came up in the previous discussion from a few days ago but I just found this older post (May, 2015) where love2shopdotbags had listings for the same red and green clutch pouches that we discussed here and she's still trying to sell 20 months later.
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/coach-hall-of-shame-post-coach-fakes-here-824098-154.html

She's determined to unload them and doesn't seem to care that her buyers are getting fakes.

I'm not sure whether this links will work but her Tradesy booth also has some of the other fakes we discussed and were removed from ebay. (I'll post a link and the picture in case the links don't work)

This is the listing I meant. H4N, not M4N. I just had M4N on the brain as that is a common fake prefix.
