I sold a wallet on eBay purchased from the outlet. The buyer is now claiming it's fake because of the gold BV circle stamp behind the tag. She claims that she brought the wallet to her local BV store and the sale associate there said it's a fake too! However, she lives in Germany so the sales associate there may not know the difference between a wallet purchased at a store and an outlet. Anyhow, the buyer said she'll be able to obtain a letter from the store. I even offered a copy of my receipt to show it is 100% authentic and explained to her that the wallet was purchased at an outlet so the material may be a 'bit' different from the original ones. I'm having 2nd doubts if the outlet sells authentic merchandise because she may be able to obtain a letter from her store? oh and she claims that this board says any BV merchandise with a gold circle stamp means it's a fake. I just wanted to double check with you BV experts to see if this is indeed true. If it's true, I will need to speak to my SA about it. :confused1:

I´m sorry to hear that you have to go through such a hassle, but everything bought in the European outlet in Florence or in the US in Woodbury or Cabazon is definitely auth, since the outlets are under direct control of BV.

I`ve always had good experiences with the German stores, so I`m wondering which one would provide her such a letter since all of the SAs seemed very knowledgeable to me.

I'm not sure which store in Germany she is going to obtain the letter from. I have not yet heard back from her. The wallet was purchased at Cabazon, CA and now I am more confident my SA did not sell me a non-authentic wallet. Thanks!!

Thanks to all for the "lessons on authenticity!" Now that I compare the impressed name tag to the real one, I can see a difference. And yes, my leather pull is much shorter. With BV is is definitely nuance and understatement... which I love!

Thanks, also, C_24 and boxermom for your evaluation of the vintage bag. I will try for it.

Hi there - I missed the end of an eBay auction for a Bottega bag I really wanted and now I'd like to search the world for another one, but I have no idea of the style name. I was hoping someone could help me out with the name and any advice on where to find this bag (it is the large 19x17 size). I stopped in the Bottega Veneta boutique at Northpark in Dallas last week to ask about it and they had a smaller version available but said that they didn't have this larger version anymore. Any info would be appreciated - Thanks!

This Veneta is offered by another tPFer, and it looks good to me, but the numbers on authenticity tag is unlike the numbers on any other tag I have. Any idea why? ... maybe an earlier version?... I am assuming that it is authentic, and I really love this color!

Thanks for your help!

OK, we can put our collective knowledge together on this bag. The tag number looks odd. but they have changed recently, so that may not mean anything. Seller says used but doesn't say how old the bag is. I'm using my son's monitor and I can't see the font well. The thing that bothers me is the zipper--shouldn't it be a "riri" zipper? Is it the "6" for the larger bags? I'm not near my bags right now and can't go and look. I know someone else will help out on this bag. (If the pic shows "riri", I'm telling my son he definitely needs a new monitor LOL)

Sorry, lalakaena, I think it`s one of those BV hobos that don`t have a particular name. But looks like either deerskin or calf to me.

Hi nicole! Do you maybe remember when you got the bag? The code on the tag looks like the one from back in the days when they still had alphabet-combinations for the colour, so maybe that explains the Lampo?

i didn't buy it from a store, i bought it from a consignment seller. i took it to barneys in LA to compare the details with the newer bags, and i had bought a medium hobo from ****** recently, and besides the zipper, everything checks out - at least to my eyes! the font on the tag, both the leather and the cloth on the interior pocket, are the same, so... i don't know - everything about the bag seems authentic to me! but i'm a Bal expert, not BV - this is only my 2nd BV bag!!

does anyone know when they switched from LAMPO zippers to riri? :confused1:

Nicole, I once asked a BV SA about the zipper issue and they wouldn't tell me anything. Possibly the first year or two of the Veneta style BV used Lampo, then switched to riri. If everything else checks out with hgbag's (erica) BV, then I think it must be good. BV is one of the harder brands to authenticate, IMO. Thanks for your input.
