C_24, could you please tell me what a bag with a code 172918 V7782 2202 should be? :confused1:

Thank you so much for your expert opinion!

Hey lawbabe! Apparently the model should be a Sloane, but the colour code 2202 has also left other experts on board clueless (if you go back to page 30 in this thread, BookerMoose guessed it should be brown). Maybe it`s a reddish brown? I`m sorry, I don´t exactly know what colours the Sloane comes in.

OK, C_24, you are now officially declared to be a professional BV code expert and authenticator! It does indeed belong to a reddish brown sloane! Thank you for your assistance, fast and effective as always.:okay::okay:

I am a scaredy cat on e-bay, it's full of fakes, so i rather buy my bags in the boutiques. But once I bought a gorgeous authentic BV for a bargain from e-bay, and such experience tempts one to look again and again...

I just lost my response in cyberspace, so if this is a duplicate, I apologize.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda... it doesn't matter! The seller claimed that the bag was authentic, and had a sueded lining, and it had better be as described. Selling counterfeits is illegal! That is why I told you to save the auction (as hardcopy print or print and save to your computer as a pdf), so that this will serve as proof of what you tried to buy. After you have printed it, and if you have not already, file a complaint with ebay, so that they will know that this trade is being disputed, because you have received a counterfeit bag. Put on your gloves and mask and take those pics - cat/human hair and all - to show what you received, and the condition in which your received it. Your cc company, paypal and ebay are very aware of the huge problem with counterfeit handbags. Stay on top of this with your cc company, making certain that you understand what they require of you, and give them everything that they need in just the way that they want it. It was surprising how little they actually wanted from me, but I was very happy to have the auction and pictures as proof. If you need to monitor the daily progress, then call daily. I did. The cc company will issue you a provisional credit in the amount of the charge until this is sorted out - so that you are not out your money right now.

I do know how scary this is, pinez0! I could hardly sleep! It is unlikely that your credit card company will not validate your claim. Best of luck!

Hi, Baggiana. I took some pics and it was really hard to take pics of hair!
The cotton lining became fluffy, the bag couldn't be a brand new!
Tomorrow, I will take some more pics.

Fortunatelly, my cc company told me that I do not have to pay the amount until a determination is made.
Deadline for the seller to respond to a claim I made with Paypal is this Sunday.

I took pics, saved and printed the auction page and pics.
All I can do is just to wait for now.

Again, thanks for your advise.

Hi All,
just to let you know that I will not bid on the reddish sloane (maybe you should not either) as I did a bit of research and the seller seems to have sold at least one BV bag which I believe not to be authentic...

Awww, thanks, lawbabe! I have to admit that sometimes Google and those funny Japanese websites where they have tons of stuff listed is sometimes of great help!

I`m not sure of the other either, but I think the Sloane looks okay. But if you don`t feel comfortable, you should better stay away!

Hello - well first a thank you. I did end up getting two bags that you all helped authenticate and they are fabulous. I wanted to see what you thought about this one - an older one I think (and thank you in advance).
Best regards - Jacqueline

In one place the seller calls this a new bag, then says it's used. It's definitely several years old, judging from the pics. If authentic, there's no way this bag would've sold for $2000 that many years ago. This is a vintage I'm not as familiar with as I'd like, so I will defer to other members here. I just wanted to point out where the seller is giving conflicting info or just plain wrong.

The $2000 price didn't ring true for me. It reminds me of a hobo I had circa 1996 and then lost in a move (boo-hoo). It had a longer shoulder drop than the hobos of today, so I've been trying to find something like that. Thanks. I'll see if anyone else weighs in.

^Yup, I agree. The details look good to me (tag, etc.), but I think the seller tries to get a better deal out of the bag than it deserves. It`s definitely not new, in fact a couple of years old, and 2000 USD is a bit too much to quote as original RRP.
