Hey Brennamom,

I`m a little clueless. It`s definitely not the OP colour from SS 07, because it`s a vintage piece, but the tag has such a "blurred" font, KWIM? The older font was totally clear without any serifs at all, but this seems so weird.

Any other opinions?

Thanks Claus, I will post control tag when I get it. Maybe that will shed more light on the bag.

Morning Everyone! Could someone weigh in on this bag. It's listed as lilac, but isn't it Old Petra? Will ask for tag pix. Thanks!

Here is seller's response to request for control tag:

"since this is a vintage style, there is no control tag, but I had it authenticated before listing it, so I guarantee it's authenticity. thanks"

Is that true of vintage BV?:confused1:

Ebay is very hit or miss with this, I find.... but often, the fakes do get taken down. I would still report the suspicious ones and out and out fakes.

mistikat - once I reported a fake (fake sloanes turning up on e-bay from Germany) have not even received a response and those bags are still there :-(

Has anyone been able to take a look at this? I don't know much about BV at all. I am wary though because this bag is still currently $1200 on the BV website and I can't figure out how the seller could let it go with no reserve. I know it comes in the Ferro - dark silver color but is this a little shiny? When I googled the name of the bag, a few links came up to some wholesalers who do fake this. The seller has reasonably good feedback but just a year ago someone posted that she sold them a fake as verified by the designer's store and got a refund. This isn't too encouraging. It just seems too good to be true. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. The auction ends in 3.75 hours.

ktoll119- I specifically went to BARNEYS today to look at this clutch, and there is no leather plaque in the 1 in Barneys.. I even emailed this seller and asked her to post a picture of the certificate of authenticity, and she has never responded.. I have my answer

ktoll, please stay away, it`s a fake! The material doesn`t look like Karung skin at all, more like a coated stamped material.

Plus, it comes with a dustbag that is like ages old!

Yup, totally agree with C_24. The leather looks cheap and low quality and nothing like Karung. Its probably those stamped-fau-Karung material.

The weave looks very loose and the leather at the weaves look fairly thin.

The font on the dustbag looks like a different font. Was it the old fonts they used?

True, the oldest vintage bags have no authenticity tag with numbers, etc. I believe this is authentic--I have some vintage bags with a font like this. There were bags of more recent vintage with no serifs on the letters, but the oldest ones have metal nameplates that look like this. The zipper pull looks good and they often had the very thin leather strap. Seller states that there is a fair amount of wear on the bag, which sort of is opposite of "gently used"! Not sure what to make of that!

Baggiana, thank you for your advise. I will take some pics!
Actually, the bag smells!! and human and cat hair inside.
I do not even want to touch it but it can't be helped...

Thank for the information on the lining. The bag I received has cotton lining, but the seller described that the bag has sueded lining.
I sent some messages to the seller prior to bidding to make sure the authenticity, but I should asked her more details. I really regret it...

I just lost my response in cyberspace, so if this is a duplicate, I apologize.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda... it doesn't matter! The seller claimed that the bag was authentic, and had a sueded lining, and it had better be as described. Selling counterfeits is illegal! That is why I told you to save the auction (as hardcopy print or print and save to your computer as a pdf), so that this will serve as proof of what you tried to buy. After you have printed it, and if you have not already, file a complaint with ebay, so that they will know that this trade is being disputed, because you have received a counterfeit bag. Put on your gloves and mask and take those pics - cat/human hair and all - to show what you received, and the condition in which your received it. Your cc company, paypal and ebay are very aware of the huge problem with counterfeit handbags. Stay on top of this with your cc company, making certain that you understand what they require of you, and give them everything that they need in just the way that they want it. It was surprising how little they actually wanted from me, but I was very happy to have the auction and pictures as proof. If you need to monitor the daily progress, then call daily. I did. The cc company will issue you a provisional credit in the amount of the charge until this is sorted out - so that you are not out your money right now.

I do know how scary this is, pinez0! I could hardly sleep! It is unlikely that your credit card company will not validate your claim. Best of luck!
