I'm not certain--this is an "in-between" vintage; between the very old ones which I'm quite familiar with and the ones since the mid 1990's which have some details that we can spot. Considering this is old enough that the fakers probably wouldn't have copied BV, this may be real. It's got some flaws that can't be fixed without a lot of expense--the ink marks on the suede. Maybe others will know more about this bag.

Hello Everyone! I think this is super neat, but as to authenticity:confused1:. Please take a look and let me know. Thanks!!

^Sorry, Brennamom, don`t worry we`re still here. I just didn´t reply, because I wasn`t really sure what to tell you. The zipper looks good, so does this coin thingy. I just don`t know why it would be so out of shape. Either poor quality or authentic and heavily used, I guess...

Welcome to the Purse Forum and the BV subforum!

The first two links show an error page. The third one is a beautiful red bag that I noticed too. I believe it's authentic--the plate, zipper pull are correct. Looks like a very nice vintage bag. sorry I can't see the first 2.

Hello, again! I have finally broken through my wall. I posted earlier about the authenticity of a green Veneta. I did check with the seller, and it turns out she is a tPF member, and the dup was a relist. I am now the owner of a gorgeous green Veneta!!! Yeah! - and it is definitely authentic!!! If only I could find the large woven Veneta in black...

So, I am still looking for black, because I let a good one get away... I could kick myself! (but instead, I will just enjoy my green bag!)

Can you help me with this one? Is it authentic? If so, do you know what it cost retail?

As ever, TIA!

I just had to post these pictures here, which I pulled out today when finally getting everything put together to send off to Caroldiva for the authenticity letter on Fiasco-bag. When I was taking pictures to establish that Fiasco-bag was fake before returning it to the Seller, just in case I needed them later (how right I was), I thought it would be helpful to show how Fiasco-bag (which was ostensibly noce) looked beside my REAL noce Montaigne.

So this is what a fake looks like... can you tell which one is real?!?

I believe the first one is authentic:yes:. Seller has some other BV's that also look good. (I thought about buying one of the other BV bags). Second one, I really don't know. The stitching doesn't look quite up to BV standards and I can't see the heat stamped font. I just don't know on that one:confused1:. Maybe someone else knows whether it's good or not.

Yay on getting a green Veneta!!! I'm so happy for you!:yahoo:

the bag on the right is the Montaigne style and the Noce color. The color on the left is a brown I haven't seen in BV. Of course my monitor often gets colors wrong, so what do I know??!! The weaving looks smoother on the bag on the right--edges arent' so apparent.

If you're looking at a bag by itself with nothing to compare (and you haven't had BV bags previously) it's certainly possible to be fooled. It happened to me a few years ago. I bought a fake Veneta that I now realize wasn't even close; but I just didn't know what a real one was like.

Thanks, boxermom! I am so pleased with the green Veneta!!! I just love the way it drapes, and feels on my shoulder, and smells! - and I love the color, too! It almost washes away the pain of buying the fake bag... almost.

Thanks, too, for your guidance on the others... I asked the seller of the first one about the lining, and she told me that it is cotton. Is this usual? Most of the linings that I have seen in new bags are suede, but I have never seen this bag before. Also on the tag - I can see the numbers from the reverse side through, and on the tag of my authentic bag, I cannot. Don't know if this means anything, because other than the bleed through/transparency, the tag looks ok to me... what do you/others think? Still trying to learn how to spot real from fake... For now, I will keep looking for the black.

I am no expert, but the color of the bag on the left does not look like noce, the weave looks loose, and the binding on the edge does not lay beautifully, the way a BV usually does. What did the leather feel and smell like? That is usually the giveaway. Also, I believe that the fakes have stitching that does not hold up to use, though you would not have had it long enough to tell. I do know how you feel! How long will Caroldiva take to issue a report? Does this leave you enough time to authorize a cc chargeback if you need to take that route? I am pulling for you! - keep us posted.
