Comments: Dear all, Bought this bracelet on Ebay about a year ago along with an Hermes Hapi black bracelet. Almost lost the silver tag, but was fortunate to find it. Just wanted to be sure if it's authentic, and what year / color it is from. Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Boxermom makes a good point. In addition, there are many bags that we can't confirm are fakes 100%, but that we would recommend buyers not bid on. These won't show up in the Hall of Shame thread because we only report sure fakes. In fact, there are 2 or 3 on ebay now that I'd guess are fakes but I can't prove it due to lack of pictures so I didn't post them in Hall of Shame.

Also, I think that many times potential bidders don't want to post an item in this thread because if confirmed authentic, many others will see it and bid on it, thus raising the price. My personal thought is that I'd rather pass on a great deal if I wasn't sure it was authentic or that the condition was as stated than win a fake for a good price.

I'm not a bracelet expert...let's see what others have to say :smile1:

I do agree that the seller should be given the option, and if the seller were like you MFB, I would not even think twice - but there are some red flags that makes me think that taliaferro should go through proper protected eBay channels: blacking out her name, and not posting clear, legible pics from the start, and only providing the numbers to agent_stealth without pics. I was in this position once myself, and the seller appeared to be cooperative, but would not pick up the package. When ebay ruled in my favor the money was long gone (transferred out of her account) and I was out of luck until I contacted my cc company. I am not saying that his seller is like the one that I dealt with, but when you get a counterfeit, and the pics posted were illegible (why did you bid under such circumstances???) you cannot be sure that your direct request to the seller will be given real consideration. Use your own best judgment, taliaferro. You could contact her and file simultaneously.

I have filed a report on the bag and explained the situation. We will see what eBay will do with my report. This bag is definitely a counterfeit.

Baggiana, the material of the authenticity tag does not look or feel quite the same as those on my other BV bags. I didn't even raise that issue here because I felt that determination is rather subjective.

I just wrote the seller. I showed her a photo of her tag as compared to the tags on my other BV bags, as well as links to about 6-7 ebay auctions which show the authenticity tags (all of which have an accent on the A in the word ORIGINALITA' and the perforated edges). I then informed the seller that her Cabat was already discussed on this Forum and deemed a probable counterfeit because the color code on the tag are for a COPPER bag.

Up until I discovered the seller had apparently blacked out her name on the shipping label, my instincts told me that the seller may have been unaware that she was selling a counterfeit Cabat. Of course, now I'm not so sure. In my opinion, how the seller proceeds going forward will say a lot about her knowledge that the Cabat was a counterfeit.

Thank you for your support Miss_FancyBags. I hope the seller, la*bella*luna issues an immediate refund. If not, I will file an ebay claim later this afternoon. I know that the ebay safeguards, as well as those provided by my credit card protect me, but it's such a horrible feeling being a victim, and I am eager to be made financially whole again and get the fake Cabat out of my home.

Boxermom, my lesson is learned. I used poor judgement and relied on poor resources and faulty assumptions. Of course, my mind is no longer clouded by my desire for something I covet, and I see all of the red flags in hindsight. Thank you for your support:smile1:

I think it's best to follow your advice and file my claim with ebay now. If the seller issues a refund, the claim will be cancelled.

Am I correct, that ebay doesn not want you to file a simultaneous dispute with your credit card company?

Once you file a claim through ebay and or paypal (I filed with both), you let them make the contacts and follow-ups. Then when she issues a refund (and I hope that she does!) ebay will call it closed. Hold off on filing with your cc for the time being.

This is how it could work (I say could because things vary a little and it was a while back that this happened to me): They will give her a time to answer, and if she does and says that she will accept the return, follow ebay's instructions for returns to the T - send by USPS express mail with signature confirmation... they want the signature confirmation. When she picks it up and you have verification and a signature from USPS notify ebay with the information and they/paypal will issue the refund - shipping may or may not be covered.

If she does not respond - you get judgement. If she does not pic up the package - you get judgement. And if you are unhappy with the way that things are going, then contact American Express to charge back explaining that you received a counterfeit item. It will take time, but you are not out of luck.

Just to let you know, I have filed two reports with ebay on this. They have not responded to me as they usually do and I am surprised. But I have copies and eBay has my reports. You should, however, be able to handle it from your end.

All good points :smile1:

Got it! Thank you for your generous help, as well as all the folks on this thread!

I will keep you posted.

One more thing... print a copy of the auction site with all the pictures, and then the enlarged pictures separately before the seller removes this from her site (not saying that she will, but it has been known to happen) - I enlarge and download or transfer to my desk. Should there be a dispute you may need this information. Good luck!!!

Hi, it looks good! Nice seller, too :smile1:

I will keep you posted.

taliaferro - just one thing, i think you can only file with ebay or paypal, not both. for an authenticity issue they will ask you for verification that the bag is fake. i don't believe linking to tPF will be sufficient. you will need caroldiva or some other authentication service to help. the best thing to do is file with ebay, and then immediately call and have their customer service walk you through the steps. if you go to the ebay forum on tPF there will be lots of threads on this topic and you can get more specific advice on filing a claim. best to be proactive IMO. good luck and let us know how it goes.
