Ladies, I'm happy to report that the seller issued a full refund (including shipping). She also offered to reimburse me for my return shipping costs. She was very apologetic and I think sincere.
This experience has completely spooked me. I don't know if I could ever buy an object that is subject to counterfeiting on the secondary market.

are there any bv markings embossed on the metal or the leather that you could show? honestly i am not an expert on these things and would want someone else to weigh in.
none on the metal or the leather except for the small rectangular metal tag that says BOTTEGA VENETA MADE IN ITALY with BV inside a circle stamp

There are many good sellers and with a little help from this forum you should be able to navigate the waters if you want to try... many of us have been successful buying preloved bags on the secondary market - just use common sense and a little caution.

Authentic. Not to influence you, but the veneta is a classic, especially in nero - an icon, if you will - and my favorite design (and I have several), though I do love the cabat. The price...I am not really good at this, because the price is what the market will bear.. ok (not a steal for used) but as the pics do not show much wear and she says pristine. I would want better pics of the pen marks. But I have found another one on Bonanzle for comparison...more than $500 less and an older bag (meaning produced a few years before the one you are looking at. The pics look equally good, but you could write the seller and ask questions about the condition. Shop around. You will find your icon bag.

Hello dear. the photos are not sufficient for a good opinion. can you ask the seller for close up pix of the interior, particularly the embossed bv logo, the hardware and the BV embossed logo on the hw?
