Sorry, I thought it was the traditional skull scarf. The NAP description details say that these skulls are embroidered on silk chiffon, which easily could result in a different logo rendition.

Hmmm, that is poor brand identity management by the McQueen organization. Logo type is meant to be precise! Then again, I own fashion scarves from McQueen that use logos that seemed to be designed for the scarf, rather than to perpetuate the brand identity.

But I haven't seen a variance in the logo type on the classic skull scarves (mine come from several different seasons, including current).

Love the blog btw! brilliant work. I sat up all night and read it, sadly after I purchased my scarf... Oh well!

was just wondering if you could tell me if the one I have is fake or not, it was a very impulse buy as the auction was ending in a few minutes, and I did only pay £30 for it so I won't be too upset if it is fake, would just be nice to know.

I just purchased and received an Alexander McQueen skull scarf (white with black skulls) on eBay. It is obviously counterfeit. The tag is folded over and sewn into the scarf using a sewing machine, rather than hand stitches. I wanted to post a general warning about a group of sellers on eBay that appear to be selling counterfeit McQueen scarves. The seller I encountered was super0063.onsales. This individual is registered as a business seller. I believe there are a group of these sellers who are associated with the same company. These sellers are registered as business sellers and are located in Hong Kong. All the auctions contain the same language:
"1.Confirm order 1 day ship out
2.Hong Kong post office Tracking Number
3.Delivery usually takes 7-14 working days"

It appears these sellers are selling various McQueen scarves, as well as some other items. All the auctions look basically the same. Also, the pictures in the auction have the same date-stamp on them: 21/10/2011. I have already reported my item to eBay. But, I wanted to warn any others looking at these scarves. I feel like an idiot after getting what is obviously a counterfeit scarf. I wish I had read this thread before I bought it! As many others have said, you cannot get a McQueen scarf that retails in the US for $295 for $30-$40. Period.

I have contacted the seller and am returning the scarf. But if anyone else encounters this group of sellers, please report their items.

60% off at the Mcqueen website!! The leopard scarf in flame and magenta are still available. I bought the magenta one at the 40% sale and is gorgeous, too bad the blue is not longer availble.
