Hi someday, hope TE doesn't mind me directing you to "My First Reveal" of the Smog Secret Diservice in Plush. The leather is overall smooth, but texture varies from panel to panel and some are more textured than others. It's soft and smooshy and gorgeous!
ETA: overall has 2 "l"s. Proofread dede!

Hi TE, 2 quick(ish - it's me, after all) questions. 1/ Is the Enzo leather supposed to be a bit distressed? I just got around to the buffing stage of treatment today and noticed a bit of lightness here and there. In places, especially around seams, it was just lotion residue and some extra elbow grease rubbed it off, but in some areas there seems to be just the tiniest but of lightness/seaming/cracking to the leather. Nothing major, not unsightly, but I just wondered if it's the leather, or if I should try a different conditioner next time. This Jack Georges did take some colour off worn edges of a Danier leather wallet that I decided to treat, so maybe it's a bit too powerful. Anyway, in case you got lost in all that (did I *really* say "quick"), my question in a nutshell is, if, and how much, Enzo is distressed.

2nd question, do you think I should treat Potion? I think your earlier comment on that was you couldn't recommend a specific product for it, but I did see you and another member saying NO, don't treat metallic, so I'm wondering if there are some leathers that shouldn't be treated at all. I've done a test area on the bottom of the Potion bag (Crash Course, Cocoa), left it 24 hrs & buffed and it looks fine, but I'm a bit leery now and wondering if I should just leave it completely untreated??

Hi TE, what is the Plush leather like? Is it smooth or pebbly? I think I want something a little pebbly... (loving the Aflutter bag  )

Its washed post production (ie the bags are assembled and then flung into huge vats of agitating enzymes and dye to be softened, tumbled and dyed.)

Its matte, slightly grainy, and squishy soft.

Honestly all of Tano's leathers are very natural and therefore very imperfect, and thats the beauty of them. If you aren't Ok with that, then you will quickly become frustrated with Tano bags!

My gut tells me that the kiwi mink oil (its a wax paste that comes in a little tub, actually, not an liquid) would be good for the potion leather, but I HAVENT TRIED IT.

I dont treat any of my Tanos when they are new. If and when they ever get dry & faded, and I want to make them a little less so, I give them a rub down with some conditioner (lexol) and that works great for me.

Hi TE, no, I'm very OK w/ it - it's just that I didn't *think* I'd noticed any distressing before I treated the bag, and I wasn't happy w/ what the lotion did to my Danier wallet (or the lotion plus age and wear), so I was really looking fine tooth comb-ey when I buffed it. I love the bag though, and a little natural grain/distressing doesn't bother me with a nice leather.

As for any kind of mink oil, my mother talked me into using mink oil on a beloved pair of Frye boots when I was a teenager and it darkened them severely, and I won't touch the stuff since then!

I think I'll just follow your lead as you say above and not treat the Potion, because I like it just the way it is and I don't want to change the finish at all. Or maybe just a light mist of a repellant spray like Kings 20 suggested to at least keep it from water spotting, since I seem to have moved to Vancouver without anyone telling me (rain, rain, rain).

Thanks again TE.

^^

Mink oil cannot be used on matte leathers just glazed ones. I have ruined a gorgoeus bag using it on matte leather once. It darkened a cream bag and made it yellow and dirty looking. It works great on glazed leathers though.

TE, is baltic the same as berry blue?

Hi again, I'm looking at a Berry Blue Boogie Bucket (holy alliteration Batman) on eBay. I notice you stated here that this colour came with black trim (maybe on a different bag?) but she's got it with brown trim. What season would this be from? Also, what's the closest current blue to the Berry Blue, and how close to Lux would this bag's Crunch be in the evolutionary process? If it's too far back and not going to be as smooshy, I'm thinking I might rather hunt down a few extra loonies and get a more current version.

Thanks TE, appreciate your help, especially since you're so busy right now.

ETA: She's got it marked down an *extra* $20 over her usual $20 off, which is a/ the only reason I might be able to afford it! but b/ the reason I'm leery of how many seasons old it might be.

Berry blue was from spring 09. Some berry blue bags had brown trim, others black.

Its similar to blatic (spring 10) and even oasis (fall 09) but they are a tad more blue/more green.

Its crunch leather, but recent so should pretty much similar to the lux.

Kings, mink oil is usually good for pull-up leathers, which the potion seems to be. It can darken leather, though. Therefore I would consider trying it out on the black and brown potion leather, but not on the olive or red.

Dede, if you try the mink oil, test it on a small unseen area and wait 24 hours first to check the results!

Kings, the two blues are similar, but unless i had them beside one another I couldnt describe the difference. I have to say that baltic is a bold, cheerful, stunning blue!

Hi TE, do you have any idea where I can still find the Social Circuit in Chocolate? I didn't buy it when I had the chance and now I'm desperate!
Thanks so much!
