Hi TE, thanks so much for your earlier help re the Neiman Marcus Visionaire. I decided to go into Downtown (we suburbanites refer to Toronto, AKA, The Big Smoke, that way. My city has almost 200,000 people, but if anyone says "downtown", they mean T.O. ;-) ) to get a look at a Sass and Crass in Deep Ocean that I'd found by dint of many (mostly fruitless) phone calls. Not many Tano retailers in my area. By chance, I stopped at another store that I hadn't really thought had much, and fell in love with and bought a Flusher Times in Celeste.

Sorry for the book there as intro, but it's gonna get worse before it gets better 'cause I've got several questions!! I've typed this in two other threads tonight and I'm still somewhat shocked by it, even knowing my obsessive nature and love of bags: less that three weeks ago I'd never even heard of Tano, and today I have 3 in my home and 2 more on their way!!

So, the store where I bought the F.T. recommended, when I asked about treating it, something called "Wax Free Leather Lotion by Jack Georges, cleans, protects and conditions fine leather products"

Question 1: What is the leather of the F.T. (4492)? I've only found it on the Tano site and one obscure retail site and neither say what the leather is. In the 2 photos I've seen of 4492 the leather is quite sheeny. However, my bag is very matte, with no sheen at all. The leather is quite supple and lovely. Not quite smooshy, but not stiff at all.

Next, I've used the above product on my Secret Diservice (Plush, right?) and it seemed OK on it. Is it a good product for the softer leathers like the Plush and whatever the Flusher Times is made of?

The other bag I have already is the Crash Course, which is Potion and has more sheen and stiffness than the two above. Would this product be good for it, or would I be better with the Luxor (did I name that right?) from your site?

The two bags I have coming are both Crunch (I think - Moving on Up in Plum Jelly NWT from eBay and Biker Babe in Blossom from your site - both Crunch, yes?) so I also bought a big jug of the cleaner you sell. How often should I treat my Crunch bags with this, and are there any other leathers I could use it on?

If the product I bought the other day for the F.T., and the treatment from your site, are not a good idea for the softer leathers, what would you recommend?

Also, what can you tell me in general about the Flusher Times. Like I said above, I've already done a bit of research looking for the leather type, and I can't seem to find this bag much of anywhere. Is it really new? or really old? It's a gorgeous and very versatile style; I'm really surprised there aren't more around.

Whew, sorry to monopolize you like this. I think what you're doing (taking the time to answer all our questions like this) is great, but I'm afraid I'm a person who always likes to ask a lot of questions and gather all the info available. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again, because I'm in a brand new love affair with Tano.

Oh, one more thing (like Columbo - anyone else old enough to remember him? Eesh, I need to get to bed, I'm getting silly), how does the Biker Babe really compare in size to the Boogie Bucket. The dimensions stated indicate it's a bit smaller, but it looks pretty much like it's made from exactly the same template in all the modelling pics?

OK, I'm done now. Thanks in advance.

Hi there

Ive never tried/heard of the Jack George product, so I cant recommend it.

Ive used the lexol on all my crunch bags and I've been happy with the results. Just give your crunch bags a good soaking in it (and re-apply if needed) whenever they get dry looking or the color starts looking sort of faded. How often you need to do that depends upon how much you use the bag. If you use it everyday you might want to do that every 6-8 weeks. If you alternate between lots of bags, seasonally is fine.

I havent tried Lexol on any of Tano's other leathers so I cant recommend it for anything but crunch/lux. It would probably be fine, but you should test it on a small, unseen area and then wait 24 hours to make sure you are happy with the results before applying it to the entire bag. Some of the girls here also like apple products. You can do a search on those.

Biker Babe is based upon the boogie body, just the closure and strap is different. It looks a bit smaller because of the cinching at the top.

Moving on up and Biker Babe are both crunch/lux leather.

4492 is made of ENZO leather and its a cut to order bag this season.

Hope that helps!

"Hope that helps!"

Amazing! You hit every one of my questions. Thank you so much. I am self admitted *anal* about details (although I prefer the phrase "detail oriented ;-) ), and really appreciate you getting back to me so quickly and with so much info.

But guess what ... I have more questions! Now not to fear, you won't be babysitting me forever - I'll get the worst of it out of my system shortly (maybe even with this email), but I'm still in the honeymoon phase (gack, if I ever had a real honeymoon, S.O. would probably turf me out on my ear after 24 hrs if I went on and on with the Who, What, Why, When, How!!).

So, this Enzo leather - actually it's the Flusher Times bag itself I have concerns with. I'm starting to wonder if it's real leather. I bought it at what seemed to be a reputable store (name & number was given to me by Tano cust srvc when I called the # on their website) and it was with a bunch of other Tanos. It came with the cardboard Tano tag with the model # and colour name on it, but I just realized this a.m. when I went to treat it, no leather tags. Both my Neiman's Tanos had 2 long rectangular tags of the bags' leather, and I've heard others mention these leather tags too. Also, the bag has *no* sheen whatsoever. It's totally matte and I've only seen it pictured online with a shine or sheen to it. I read somewhere on tPF that someone had seen a PVC Tano at Winners!!! and I've seen some pretty good looking synthetics (I own some, but I knew they were synthetic when I was buying them), so I'm getting a bit concerned. Also, when I was treating it this a.m. with the lotion I'd mentioned, there was a bit of colour transfer onto the cloth. Not a lot, but noticeable. Finally, the lining, while it is bright red cotton as I've read the Enzos have, is a flannel-like brushed cotton, not smooth. Should I be concerned or am I adding one plus one plus one plus one and getting 15 for no reason?

And more evidence of my anality - re Crunch vs. Lux. I know that Lux is this season's new Crunch, and I've also read that the Crunch has been improving over the last few seasons. "Improving" as in getting softer, more supple, or something else entirely? Also, you referred to my coming bags as Crunch/Lux at one point. In this "model year", are the terms interchangeable, or, since neither is a Boogie, are they both still technically Crunch?

Finally, when you say "soaking" a bag in your treatment product (sorry, I've forgotten the name again), do you mean that literally? You couldn't right?, because the lining would get it all over it. I'm sorry, I'm really sounding like an idiot here, but I'm a total Tano babe in the woods and I really want to do right by my bags (till now I've always just sprayed my leather bags yearly with a Tana shoe protector). Probably you mean more like just put lots and lots of the stuff on the bag??

Have I reached pain in the a** status yet? Hope not. That's all for now.

^^

Tano's enzo leather is genuine leather. Tano doesnt make any bags in synthetic materials. In the past they did a few styles in a lovely coated canvas, but thats it.

I really dont think its possible that Tano made some bags in PVC bags for Winners. I dont know where you heard that?

Not all tano bags come with the leather hang tags. For example, chamois, enzo and bella leathers do not.

Red lining is not in every Enzo bag- just certain colors.

If there seems to be dye or polish rubbing off your bag, give it a serious rub down with a soft clean rag until it doesnt rub off anymore. If that doesnt work, return it to winners or avoid wearing light colored garments.

Crunch has been getting softer and suppler over time and its now called LUX.

Re: soaking the leather, what I mean is saturate the leather with the lexol. I dont mean literally soak it in a basin- I mean give it an generous amount of conditioner so that its fully saturated, then repeat when its dry, if necessary.

Hee! I didn't really think so, but I'm a newbie and I wanted to make sure.

Relief on the Enzo (wasn't Winners I bought it at, it was a retailer in a higher end Downtown mall - the Winners comment was somewhere on here. Someone found a bunch of Boogies at a Winners and said something about one of them being PVC?? Dunno, maybe I was surfing in my sleep). The rub off I mentioned isn't onto my clothes - I haven't worn her yet! It was onto the cloth when I was applying the treatment lotion. I just got a little bit when it was still really wet, but it's dried since I posted this a.m. and I didn't get any when I was buffing it, so, OK I think.

Thanks again for your detailed replies.

No worries about my toes beeb - that's not the thread, but it was just a random comment that, with a couple other things, had me wondering if my new bag was real leather and TE has set my mind at ease no probs. As for TE's toes, I haven't been around long enough to know for sure, but if s/he has the patience to put up with my rambling, question filled posts, I'm guessing her toes are OK too!!

All toes intact! No bruises, no worries!

Im not sure where dede got the seed in her mind of pvc bags at winners by Tano, but I really dont think its possible.

I know Kings 20 bought an art house at winners in enzo leather... thats about it.

Beeb, I forgot about that old thread. Those bags at Sams club definitely were Tano-inspired!

^^

I did mention that I saw some TANO knockoffs made of PVC but they were definitely not made by TANO or anything like that. I saw a Getting Warmer and a Mona Lethal knock off made of PVC at WINNERS and I may have made a comment on that in one of my threads, but by all means they are not TANOS lol. MAybe that will help clear things up...

Hi Tano Expert, can you help me id these two bags. I'm taking a bag inventory and would like to know the official names and colors.

From what I gathered from the forum the purple one is a a Shopper in grape, I'm not sure of the style and color of the green bag can you confirm.
