I'm not sure if OP still checks this thread because it's an old thread, but I didn't see anybody mention the Korean skincare line Skinfood. I love LOVE this brand, and it's kept my skin AMAZINGLY clear and vibrant (I'm Chinese by the way). I find a lot of Asian skincare brands less aggressive than American brands, and I find that's what works for me.

Unfortunately the brand is only sold in Taiwan, Korea, China, Singapore and I think Malaysia. But if you can get your hands on some products, they're great! Very affordable too. My HG cleanser is their Tea Tree Bubble Cleanser and I think it cost around $12.

Great! I will be happy to share what I've been using. My skin is now clear, complexion is way way better , and I don't break out like before( rarely now!).

Cleanser: Naive Medicated Rose Cleanser (You can find this at your local Japanese market.) webichi.com | Kracie NAIVE White Facial Cleasing Foam 08

This is the greatest cleanser I've ever used for me! I personally like to stay light and this cleanser keeps my skin that way. It does a squeaky clean job but then at the same time it leaves my skin soft too! A small dab goes a longgg way. This thing get foamy! Best thing is its also quite cheap too. I gave my mom a tube and she loves it as well.

I have white heads and black heads so I use a PEEL-OFF mask once a week.

Or another great peel off mask thats way better then the one above:

Sekkisei Mask White http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_my1aJ5jMhXY/SRQMgai8dRI/AAAAAAAACS4/Pv8nkRfvT2M/s400/Naris01.JPG

Once I use any of those peel off masks, I use a toner to finish off.

Sekkisei toner : Kose Sekkisei Lotion (Refreshing Toner) 6.7fl.oz./200ml

As for moisturizer. I have 3 different kinds that I alternate within.

Daytime moisturizer: Korres Wildrose 24 hr moisturizer w/ SPF (This brand is not an Asian brand. Find it @ Sephora. ) This moisturizer claims to "BRIGHTEN" and it really has brighten and even my complexion.

Night time moisturizers: I alternate between 2 moisturizer for night time depending on my skin.

Night cream #1: Korres Wildrose cream. (this one has no spf and its thicker but not that thick. It does the same thing as the above one that I mentioned. Brighten skin!)

Night cream #2: Dr. Ci labo AQUA COLLAGEN GEL: This is an amazing moisturizer especially for mature skin. I grab for this when I feel my skin needs an extra boost of hydration. (I am in my early 20s and it doesnt hurt to prevent aging skin early!) You can also use this moisturizer as a day cream but the only thing is this doesnt have SPF in it. If I do decide to use this moisturizer for day time, I add a few drops of Dr. Ci Labo's UV BRIGHT sunscreen in.

Here are some facts from their site: From Japan's leading cosmeceutical company, Dr.Ci:Labo
Developed by Japan's most innovative dermatologist, Dr. Shirono
Three types of collagen
Nineteen amino acids
Artificial colorant-free, artificial fragrance-free, paraben-free and mineral oil-free.

And last but not least ..another product worth mentioning that has helped my skin!

Gatsby Mega Scrub! This stuff is crazy. If you've ever used Queen Helene's Mint Julep scrub or St Ives apricot scrub..you haven't experienced nothin yet! This scrub has fine grains and leaves your skin ssqueaaaaky smooth and even leaves a very cool minty after-feel. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to try this! Also, I would recommend not to use this too often. Once or twice a week is good.

All links that were provided at random. Do your own research on the products and buy them wherevere you like. I just pulled those links up for reference of images.

I also use Sekkisei peel off mask and Naive foam cleanser (peach one and peach make up remover). The make up foam remover is one of the best cleanser I have ever used.

my freshman year roomate at university was korean (i'm chinese) and had that flawless korean soap opera skin . . . or so i thought . . . in reality, she had pretty normal skin, and some *fabulous* cosmetics brands & secrets, which she kindly shared with me, and which i continue to use to this day

now everyone comments on piggy's perfect porcelain skin, and piggy still sends appreciative thoughts to the aforementioned former roommate (^(oo)^)v

i've found the most effective piece of the arsenal to be the twincake! most of the korean cosmetics brands offer some kind of twincake, so everyone should be able to find one that fits their budget.

it looks like a pressed powder, but the consistency is almost more like an eye shadow. i find it really convenient, as my AM routine goes: moisturizer, sun protection, twincake, swipe of lipgloss, ready to go! (^(oo)^)v the twincake has awesome coverage, yet it feels really light on my skin, unlike the combo-powder foundations i've tried from some of the well-known western brands . . .

^^ interesting...please share!
what type of twin cake do you use and any others that are good?
what other cosmetic brands and secrets did she share with you?
your skin does look good in your photos so i'd love to know! thanks! :flowers:

I know in asia, getting a facial on a regular basis is a relatively cheap and easy thing to do. So, that might also be why Asian actors/actresses have nice skin.

ITA! Plus there are spas everywhere that are open 24/7.

I'm Asian, and I personally use LUSH Cosmetics and Origins. My friends comment on how pretty and clear my skin is on my no make-up face.

I'm Asian and I have relatively dry skin, so opposite to your skin type :P
Well with oily skin, have you ever tried oil blotting sheets? Or home facial masks?

It's true that there are more to your skin than just what you put on your skin externally. What you eat can affect your skin, hair, nails, etc.

I use Shiseido, Yves Rocher, as well as Lancome products. But I have heard good reviews on LUSH products.

Try researching some at-home masks and foods that help with a healthy diet and healthy skin :)

i use luichel because they have the best colour match for my skin tone; i've also used laneige & hercyna cosmetics in the past, with good results. for me the korean cosmetics are also *much* less likely to trigger breakouts than shiseido and all the western makeup brands i've tried (clinique, estee lauder, MAC, lancôme, origins, bare escentuals).

another thing i love is the laneige eye makeup remover, which (a) actually removes all of my eye makeup and (b) doesn't sting at all . . . it also provides light amusement every time i take out the bottle because it's labeled "lip & eye remover" (^(oo)^)

I'm Asian and pretty much all my friends and cosmetics SAs always comment on how perfect my skin is.
I use Darphin, SK-II, and Chanel skincare religiously twice a day, sun protection and serums. Personally, I find that if I don't load up my skin with too much make up, it stays more radiant that way.
With cosmetics, I only focus on the eyes and leave my skin alone, but if I have to.. I will use Skinfood tinted moisturizer.

I'm Asian and use the Z.O. Skin Health line. The regimen is easy to follow and understand. The products are packed with Retinol and other ingredients that repair and renew skin at the cellular level. I've met some people who have used the line and their skin is flawless even as they near age 50! While skincare products can erase fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and blemishes- it can not remove broken capillaries or other things that also motivate women to pile on the cover up and foundation. For diffuse redness and deeper acne scars, see a dermatologist about laser skin treatments.

My friend who went to korea said it has a lot to do with the food - most of it is either light in flavour or not oily so its easier on the skin. She went to korea for a month and she said that her skin was in the best condition it ever was!

My sister lives in Taiwan and every time she comes back to the states to visit, she complains about her skin breaking out. She also said it was due to the greasy American fast food...I don't know, I think it is more due to travel/stress.

Anyway, I used to use exclusively Asian brands (Shiseido, SKII, Anessa, Sunplay (??? some drugstore brand in Taiwan)) but now really just use Shiseido sunscreen and some DHC (mail order) products. Less is definitely more.

Has anyone tried My Beauty Diary face masks? They were really popular in Taiwan for a while; my sister says she is going to bring me some to try.

I have and is still using them. Its a pretty good mask for the price, its not the best mask I've used but its still pretty good. They have different "flavors" that targets different needs. My favorites are the rice and chocolate one leaves my skin dewy and soft. You can get it for $16 for a box of 5 at some of the asian stores in the US, which I think is a little too expensive for what you are getting. In taiwan and Hong Kong you can probable find it for half the price.

Here is their website for more info. http://www.beautydiary.com.tw/en/allmask.htm
