Are there any David Yurman fans here?

I have had my cable cuff bracelet with gold/onyx endcaps for years and have had no problems. I also have the gold/silver cable double hoops and no problems with them. His stuff has gotten very expensive though, I like John Hardy too and find it more reasonable.

I have the petite albion ring in lemon citrine (wearing it today, actually). I got it two years ago from a local jeweler. I would not have bought it if I felt the quality was poor. I have a few other DY pieces, and I haven't been disappointed with them, although the bracelet I have with a pave diamond "X" on it is slightly chipped on the "X" part (because of my clumsiness, I'm sure). Haven't gotten around it looking into fixing it. Having said all this, I haven't tried any DY jewelry on recently, so I don't know about the quality today vs. a few years ago.

I have been a Yurman collector for many years and I have never felt the quality was at all inferior, in fact I have always marveled at the unique intricacy and durability of Yurman pieces. I have found that Yurman pieces due tend to vary very very slightly from piece to piece, even sometimes in the same style. I don't feel that this in any way detracts from the quality though. Since Yurman has tremendously increased in popularity it is now made in different places and that is what may possibly account for the slight variations. If you ever have a problem with a piece you can just send it back to Yurman and they will fix it and send it back looking like brand new again!

thats horrible. when did the change in quality started?
my 20mm enhancer seems to weight quite a decent amount, mines came during last year's december. there was one that came earlier but had a crack in the middle of the gem, i wonder if they're both the same weight =S

This is a very interesting thread. However, I don't think it's fair to automatically jump to conclusions in regards to quality based on observations. It could very well be the case that there is a difference in quality, or there could be a legitimate reason for the "differences."

Wow. Am I glad I found this thread, I was so close to purchase a ring on *bay, I guess now If I really want one I would have to trek over to my local DY boutique to actually see and feel the quality for myself.

I really want a Petite Albion Ring in amethyst. Should I buy from Neiman Marcus or order it from the DY website? Someone earlier in this thread said the quality from an actual DY store is better. What is everyone's opinion on that? Or has the quality of the brand decreased altogether?

Thanks!!!

Hi,

My David Yurman ring was badly tarnished on the inside, and i wanted to clean it so that the stamp could be read for authentication purposes, as i want to sell it. Well, i didn't know and i dipped it in silver cleaner, and now the outside of the silver is very shiny and has none of the oxidezed silver look of the david yurman rings.

is there anything i can do, or did i just ruin my ring?

i appreciate any help.
thanks

You can send it back to Yurman and they can redo the cabling. Yurman silver can't go in those jewelry cleaners since it removes the cabling. I always take my Yurman to a Yurman store or other jeweler to have them cleaned or just polishing it with the Yurman cloth does an amazing job
