I absolutely agree, but Ive been collecting his pieces for years and I do see a marked decline/ difference in the quality through the years. Im sure Im not the only one that has noticed this...especially if they started collecting when he introduced his pieces.

My husband bought me a gold petite albion ring with garnet last year. I love it and think it's the most gorgeous ring I own. I had someone ask me if it was an heirloom piece once.

I compared my ring to the same one in the showcase at Bloomingdales recently and was shocked at the discrepancy in workmanship.

The one in the showcase was thin and not comfortable to wear. My own ring slips on like butter and isn't noticeable once you're wearing it. The "new" ring dug into my hand because the cable details were thinner. I posted a thread about it awhile ago.

I would be so mad if I got a "lemon" piece of jewelry that was so expensive with such poor workmanship to the point where the stones are falling out every time I wear it. :cursing:

I recently made a post about switching from dy silver to 18k yg. Well I had purchased 3 yg dy bangles and found out they were all hallow and really shabby quality. I think his metal quality had decreased. I have a few bracelets that look really dull, like something is mixed with silver, not all of it is ss. Plus they are out sourced to china now, well so are so many jewelery designers, I guess that doesnt matter. I purchased Roberto coin bangles and they have termendous weight to them. The DY you could bend very easy and for about 2 k a peice. NO way!

I didnt know that:( It explains alot. I think they are trying to keep with the demand for his items but are compromising in workmanship. I have a ss/gold cable 7mm bangle with the hook clasp that Ive worn for close to 6yrs now....fabulous piece,a few little dings, but as solid & sturdy as the day I bought it. Ive compared with some of the newer cable pieces and the weight is definetly lighter.

My husband has a few rings including his wedding ring,he loves them all & they have all held up well, his id bracelet ( purchased when we bought the 18k lemon) looks like its been dragged face down on the asphalt LOL.Ive worn no-name silver bracelets with large smooth areas that fair better than his DY id.

Btw...I think the Albion pieces are gorgeous. I target private sellers that have own the pieces for a few yrs, that way I know Im getting items Ill be happy with:graucho:

Love Hardy......dont own anything yet.Im afraid to get hooked.

I have a very pretty John Hrdy ss bracelet with pave diamond. The weight and quality ae much better than recent Yurman. I think some peices are better than others. I love my prasolite ring. I do not like some of the new hollow peices.

Here are some of my peices. I have a few necklaces and a pearl tip and onxy tip. Im finding I dont like the cable look anymore. What do you think?? I think maybe when I am tan they will look good, PLEASE excuse my horrible nails. Yuck

well the price of precious metals has increasesd especially compared to alot of other thins so that probably has a lot to do with as well (lol puting my finance degree to good use)

Silver has gone up a lot recently. Strange thing, I just cleaned my cable pave Dy bracelet last night, I took it out just know and it was filthy again. Im scared I wont have any bracelet left. I keep cleaning it. Its only the one peice that turns dull, maybe its not ss, lol

I have a bunch of the DY e/w oval rings and turquoise pieces that have all held up really well with ONE exception. One of my turquoise rings has a loose stone that I've never been able to get fixed. It's not going anywhere, but it slides around occasionally. Most of my pieces still look great. I do have a silver/pearl necklace that I can't seem to keep clean.

should i continue buying yurman? I mean when i special ordered an enhancer, it took half a year cause when my SA recieved the first shipment she told me there was a HUGE crack in the middle of the stone and she dint let me see it cause that's how bad the crack was and the 2nd time it arrived it was a GEM! so lovely ..i got the 20mm and i thought it had a decent weight. I'm planning on getting the bracelets but after hearing so many complaints im not too sure.
is roberto coin's quality beter?

mademoiselle if you love it go for it:) My only suggestion would be to purchase Yurman from a jewelry store that has a return policy that you are happy with. I found two jewelry stores where Im at that carry a decent selection & will refund me in the event something happens, even though it is DY. That is where my dh has made his most recent purchases, had it not been for that our(or HIS) buying DY days would have been over.

I am not sure if Saks,Neiman etc adhere to the DY "no refund, exchange only" policy but you might want to check. You can also pay with Amex and KNOW you will be protected no matter what, but alot more of a hassle in the event something does go wrong.

I own mostly Judith Ripka (JR2 line) although I do have a few older DY pieces. One of them is the curb link necklace w/every other link gold. The gold actually wore off of one of the links close to the back by the clasp! According to DY these are actually only PLATED and not solid. As a point of information, through Jan 31, DY is running a special outlet at Woodbury Commons (NY). I have not been to the store, I can't make it past Judith Ripka there! I don't know the level of discount, but I would imagine it is consistent with Judith...40% to 70% off retail.
