A plural form of bandeau .

A bandeau is what Louis Vuitton calls its narrow silk pieces (equivalent to the Twillies of Hermès). The word bandeau in French refers to a strip of fabric, traditionally used to tie in your hair.
Plural is Bandeaux.
Oh now I see! It’s basically the same as twilly right? In my world a bandeau, is a top like the one in the photo. And I could not for the life of me understand how it’s possible to get a bag to wear one...6C95C908-DC9C-4C34-9A7D-D941D765E818.jpeg

For some reason it makes me think of the band Spandau Ballet and I can’t get the song True out of my head!

Glad you thought that too, because that is what came to mind at first for me as well. lol. Definitely not a bag accessory.

Had to google what a twilly was, too (my best guess out of context would have been something similar to a swirly, a pinwheel, or a ribbon used by rhythmic gymnasts :giggle:...so looks like I was a bit off there)

It would seem that the original intention of a twilly may have been a bit pretentious as they would have been practical only for the elite at the time:

But pretentious is a subjective word when we are talking to a bunch of people who love expensive purses whether it be Hermes or Coach...TPF is dedicated to designer bags after all.

But I think now people use all sorts of scarves to accessorize their bags (of any brand) and it's a way to style a bag like adding a key fob/bag charm/whatever people are calling them now or a novelty strap.

I think only certain bags and styles are suited for wrapping a scarf around. It depends on how it is executed whether it looks appropriate in my opinion. I would consider it on my Coach Regina as the white untrimmed leather on the top handle is easy to decolor from the rest of the bag. But my inability to tie a scarf (and also not completely destroy a silk scarf immediately) has prevented me from doing this.

I agree it's been a bit overdone recently but I think it's how most trends are. One could probably say the same for the Rexy bag charms or Coach signature print.

I agree with @Alexa5 above on this being an odd thread, too. But at least we know what a twilly is now!
Thank you ! I had no idea what they were either !
