Anyone Tired of Twillies and Not Afraid to Say It?

Yes, for me it was how mean spirited the original post was. It was kind of shocking to me considering this is a forum for handbags.... which is something frivilous all on its own!

One thing this forum has taught me is to never say never! Because of some beautiful pics and hearing others opinions I have tried some items I had vowed to never buy but then end up loving haha!

I hate bag charms, I hate Twillies, and I hate bandeaux.
Hello fab!
I'm at the other end of the spectrum.
I love bag charms, I love Twillies, and I love bandeaux.
And I also like the people who hate what I like.(not everyone of course, but this also applies to people who like what I like.... )

Lively discussions?
You were who I was thinking about, too, when I said I wonder how you get them to stay on! They always look so perfect, I tried it once but through out the day I had to keep fixing them.
I see!
Not all discussions are as lively as this.
My twillies don't stay where I put them on in its place. They move around, but that's ok with me though.

Heehee I am not mad or angry at anyone who wears charms, twillies, or bandeaux... It's just not my thing and I think it takes away from the beauty of bags. Just my opinion of course.

I am.

Sorry, not sorry. I think twillies themselves are very pretty and have seen some lovely ones...that if I coughed up the money to buy, I would use as a pretty hair tie.

Putting a twilly on a bag takes away from the beauty of the bag. Yes, I understand the argument that you want to protect the handles, blah, blah. You bought an expensive bag. Use the darn bag, handles and all.

Not to mention the biggest reason I can’t stand them: they’re the most pretentious looking things I’ve ever seen, wrapped tightly around handles and knotted at the ends like you’re someone who has your own private aircraft to take you to your penthouse suite. Get over yourself.

This thread will cause major contention, I have no doubt. But whatever - I stand my ground. Let this awful trend end. Free the bag handles! Anti-Twilly Supporters, unite!

Omg that is so funny!!! Succinctly put! I used to think exactly the same, and was a key supporter of the anti - twilly movement. - but then I got sucked into it and started buying them. Guilty as charged!

Hmm. I’ve never seen a twilly/bandeau and thought it was pretentious. I personally prefer to wear them as a bracelet as I don’t think it suits any of my current handbags. I’m not tired of them tho. I enjoy seeing them on other people’s handbags.
Pretty! And, better than on a bag to me!
Nothing wrong with flying private, penthouse suites, or trying to protect ones bags from damage. Reverse snobbism is just as bad as snobbism. This forum is supposed to be about mutual support in our shared hobby in fashion!
This all day long! And, one person’s norm is another’s excess at every level. Some would consider owning a preloved Coach to be the highest of conceits. (I offer this example since we’re in the Coach forum.) So, let’s allow people to enjoy their luxuries - whatever they are - without snarky comment.
I hate bag charms, I hate Twillies, and I hate bandeaux.
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t like toys and trinkets on handbags. Lol!
I do say! Which is exactly why I haven’t contributed to this forum in ages...quite a few “holier-than-thou, don’t accept what I don’t think!” women who are so bonded together that I wonder if they share credit card debt. People are allowed to share different opinions? I would love it if anyone spoke what they really thought, except bahh-ing and pecking to the rule of the roost.
People at this forum used to say what they thought without ridicule, even if it was without the general opinion of the majority. People asked polite questions, respected different opinions...it wasn’t some silly soccer-mom united front. And honestly, if opposing opinions on twillies has you that upset, you should probably reevaluate the priorities in your life. “All in good fun!”
I think your “get over yourself” comment came across as holier than thou which is what lit the fire.

While I absolutely agree with you that there can be group think at time on tPF, I don’t think the way to combat it (presuming it even needs combating lol!) is to attack with comments that seem to imply poor / misguided character such as the ones about credit card debt or ones that are intended as pejorative such as soccer moms.

You don’t seem to like financial elites or middle class folk. Who do you like?

Now isn’t this true! LOL! I have sworn up and down that I don’t like x or y in the past and then somehow ended up with them in my closet. But, still bag doodads are definitely not in my future. Mainly because they are in my past. I tried charms and scarves for the briefest of moments and hated them. I felt they ruined the original design of the bags and looked too fussy. Hermes bags with twillies are the only look I can tolerate and find somewhat attractive. But, I don’t like H bags sooooo... :shrugs:

Some bags, like some people, are even more beautiful with accessories.
I certainly would save a lot of money if I didn't like bag charms.
I don't accessorize all my bags. Some already have too much going on. Some look like they are supposed to be plain. But some look even better IMO with doodads.
