You do have a beautiful LV collection. I think the type of bags we purchase also influences the way we grow old with them. Bags that are too trendy tend to get old to me, while classics bags are forever.

Awe thank you fabuleux! And yes I agree with you on trendy vs classic. I am really attracted to classic styles, which is why in recent years I began to buy more vintage.

I have thought of epi but there is just something about the leather that I'm not terribly fond of. It is beautiful but I like soft pebbled leather. I love Saint Laurent but the large logo is a bit off putting. I too tend to be a bit casual. I bought a Chanel jumbo a couple months ago and probably have worn it like three times! Very sad. I actually have not seen many goyard and Hermes bags where I work and live. I work off of K street in a law office and live in Chevy chase. People here are very understated about wealth and when I say that I mean they don't actually carry lux handbags here. They prefer to invest that money, buy nicer houses (or second houses) or cars, sent their kids to Holton or donate it. I rarely see a Birkin or Chanel. It's very interesting! Very unlike ny or la or other places.

Sorry, I realized you nixed the epi option in an earlier post. I'm in Arlington and frequently at the rink where the Caps play so people like to splash out a bit there. I definitely agree about the understated wealth. My SIL is fairly young and owns several homes/properties but carried her Coach bag until it practically fell apart. Although I think she will drop some money on a nice pair of shoes. For me, I've been collecting handbags for over a decade so I don't think anything can stop me now. :D

Going back to your original question, switching out definitely helps but I wouldn't get rid of the NF (I can't remember if that was even an option or if you were ready for a new bag). I maybe use my speedy 25 once or twice a year but I've had it for 10 years and it has a nearly perfect patina, even though it mostly takes up space and is not practical for my life at the moment. I just know I would miss it. You never know when you'll need the NF for a vacation or the rain. I actually have to force myself to rotate my LV bags because I carry a Longchamp Le Pliage bag daily with my Milla pochette. Also a weather-related decision lately, lol. What do you think about getting a nice piece of jewelry or watch to set your style apart?

I absolutely love my Speedys, which is probably why I have 4 of them. However, lately I find that I have to force myself to use them. Maybe not so much my SpeedyB's but my Speedy 30 Azure and Monogram annoy me because of the lack of strap. One hand is constantly occupied and I feel like I have to be extra careful because I don't want to accidentally stain the vachetta handles. I don't think I'll ever sell them though, I just love them too much!

I know I'm in the minority but I have never liked the neverfull because to me, it just seems like a very expensive sack - although I'm convinced about its practicality (I really don't want to offend the neverfull lovers here[emoji85]). Where I live there are plenty and it doesn't bother me at all. But I just prefer to use my longchamps le pliage XL and carry any LV bag I please additionally. There are just too many nice expensive bags I would rather own.

As for getting sick of my LV items, lately I have grown very tired of the LV mono canvas and sold all but one.

I love the idea of getting a nice watch or bracelet or maybe a necklace. I like the look of VCA but don't know if it is actually me. I gravitate toward chunky items like the Clic clac or the Vita Fede bracelet. The love bracelet is on my wish list but I don't know if it is actually work spending over $6k on. I'd rather leave that in the bank!

When I feel like I'm getting tired of a bag I own, I go to that bags clubhouse forum. I look at the bag on other people and read why they love it. Usually I fall back in love with it.

I worked for BV five summers in a row... this was my last job in the handbag world.

I got sick of woven leather! When BV was relaunched by Kering, it was practically unknown since the brand had become so unfashionable in the 1980s and 1990s. It was very unusual and it felt very exclusive. Today, everyone and their dogs have a BV. There are quality issues (like all brands really) particularely leather strands coming loose (BV will repair) and discoloration of the Nappa leather. And most importantly, many of the bags lose their shape/structure over time, which I do not find appealing at all. Have you ever seen a used Montaigne? It looks like a used condom!

They do have some nice bags. I love the woven goat because it's thougher and more structured than Nappa. And I love their RTW (but so pricey!).
I don't know who BV is (Mariah Carey shade :D ) jk jk

It frustrates me when bags lose their structure or get stretched out. This should not be a problem for messenger bags that cost more than 1k. It's unacceptable.

Reinforce those bags so that they will not fall apart. I don't feel like it's asking much.

Interestingly no, I rotate them and fall in love with them again when I see them. LV's quality is superb but once in a while they have issues but once solved, I am in love again.

I'm debating if I should sell my Speedy 25 w cherries because it's a top handle bag. Even if I get a long strap, I don't see myself wearing the bag. My taste has changed, but I don't want to regret.

I actually completely agree with your assessment of the Neverfull. I've had Louis Vuitton bags for the last 5 years and never got it. I use a Longchamp large Le Pliage for work and would never consider an open top non waterproof bag. However that didn't stop me from buying the GM for travel this year because I was using a MBMJ MM sized bag that I grew out of and I think also I just got bitten by the bag bug. Thanks for being honest, it's hard when it's a piece so loved.

Been getting sick of Hermes and Chanel recently.Decided to down size my closet and sold my birkin25 n jypsiere away.I have been lusting over LV Classic since I got my Turenne pm as a special gift from my hubby 2months ago but been back and forth lately bc everyone here seems to have ones. Not sure if I should buy a 30/35speedy b as it is on top of my wish list now.

It is normal for human to get bored of the old things. So I'm trying to rotate the brand. Now it is the Vuitton turn

Not exactly tired, but I won't be purchasing any more LV canvas bags. I don't like multiples of the same print/style and I have all the canvas bags that work for me. I think next year I'm going to get an epi one, or a vernis.

i do not like to let stuff own my life, thats why i do not like to own too much stuff i don't need. also digital stuff, i do not have a lot of photo's on my computer, emails also; when something is done, the emails are gone. my phone doesn't have a lot off apps or stuff, i do not have a lot of accounts, when i have to register to buy something, it must be really necessary when i will register to something.

all the stuff i own does fit in one box, incl computer, incl clothes and shoes, excl tv kitchenstuff, bathroomstuff, and furniture

its perfect nowadays, you do not have to buy cd's or dvd's anymore, everything is now digital, it doesn't need the space and care anymore. in my youth, i've collected a lot of these cd's and dvd's, glad this is past.

Ontopic to LV, i own a few ties from LV, this collection is done. for me this is the only lv collection i own; just like a stamp or coin collection. other stuff from lv, some jewelry, and some little stuff, it takes not much space. its easy to overview these little things, bags are not my favorite thing to take care off, i've got a bag for work, which is a simple bag from the brand crumpler, but its perfect for in the rain, stuff in it will not get wet.
