I'm going through phases where I got tired of my designers handbags. I only have 6 LVs and two Chanel but I've found myself carrying a bag I bought from target for 20 bucks lately. I hope to get over this phase or else my bags are just going to collect dust. =(

I am not a fan of the epi unfortunately and I am also trying to go the direction of less obvious lux which is why I like the garden party. I have an empreinte wallet but I don't think I'd buy the bag because it has LV stamped all over it. It's a beautiful bag but where I live which is in DC the young professional group is much more subtle about lux.
do a SC

I have gone through phases with LV. Got my first 2 back in 2004. Used them for 1-2 years and then moved on to different luxury brands. It was about 10 years for me to be interested again with lv. At the moment, I'm done with lv again after the recent purchases I made :D I'm moving on not with using them but just buying lv's. I have my eye and saving for a different non-lv bag. I'm back on another luxury brand :p

I think it's natural for your choices and interests to change. I don't get tired of my bags in general though... I think it's because I rotate most of them. I can't stand using one for days in a row. That's just me. For the older lv's, I got a bag charm to spice it up again :D and it actually made me want to use it more. Do what works for you. Everyone is different :smile1:

I do this too. When it rains, I have to switch my piece for a cheaper piece. And sometimes I just don't switch back because I am lazy and I don't care if the cheaper piece gets dirty or wet or abused

Hey everyone. So three years ago I bought my first designer bag and it was the Louis Vuitton mm in damier ebene. I loved that bag for the first two and a half years I owned it and basically took it everywhere with me. Lately I have started falling out of love with it for various reasons.

1) I think I've just owned it for a while and maybe I am tired of the print 2) everyone and their mother owns it (literally; i saw a woman at the grocery store this morning using it as a diaper bag ahhhhh) so I feel like it's not as special anymore 3) since purchasing it the handles have been cracking and that has been annoying me 4) I have found a love for other lux items besides just LV (Chanel, goyard, Saint Laurent, Hermes and MG). Currently I also have two other Neverfulls - one in the monogram in mm and another in the azure gm. I am wondering if I should sell the DE bag.

And frankly wonder if I should also sell the azure. It looks great but in terms of functionality I hardly ever get to use it because I'm afraid of getting it dirty. It's so white! Plus I have noticed other people carrying this bag and the patina looks really bad. And recently while wearing a pink shirt I got some color transfer on the bags speaking of, any suggestions on how to get that out?

I definitely understand the loss of something special when you see everyone with it, thats why I've put off buying a neverfull since it first came out. I also agree about azur neverfull bags. Maybe sell the azur first, otherwise if you think you'd be okay with it sell both and find something new. If you still love neverfull maybe look at the epi?

My first luxury bag was a monogram speedy 25 eleven years ago. I used it daily for six years. LOVED it. And then I had kids. And I haven't used it since.

I recently pulled it out and was admiring it. I really abused the bag and unfortunately the underpart of the handle is really black and I have only been moderately successful at cleaning it. The rest of the handles and the other vachetta handles, otoh, have patina-ed into the most gorgeous shade.

But there is no place in my life now for a strictly handheld bag.

My next bag will hopefully be the speedy b monogram 25.

I plan on saving my current speedy 25 for my girls when they're older.

Also, I see LV bags daily everywhere. But for some reason I don't see the speedy b much at all. Why??

Love the speedy B!

I know this is crazy but some days I wonder why I bought my Chanel jumbo. I tend to dress casual except when I'm working and there is no way I would carry a Chanel into a law office. Lol. I find myself reaching most often for my long champ or MG because they are so carefree. I never have to worry about what will happen to the bag if it gets rained on!

+1

It's rather ridiculous IMO, to think that you can have exclusivity with a mass-produced item. It's like a Mercedes or BMW.

If they want exclusivity, they need to spend $$$ and even then, depending on where you live, you'll still see others with the same bag. My SO has a baby blue Bentley and I've seen several of them around town, yet that color was chosen because my SO believed it was "unique."

Yes the item is mass produced but where I live it is more annoying that every college student carries it as I noted above. I work hard for what I earn and as a young professional I don't want what I carry to be so mundane. I also don't think you have to spend tons of money on an item for it to be more special. As an example I love carrying my Mansur gavriel bucket bag. Not as many people know the brand. Also while goyard totes tend to be pricey they are not as expensive as an Hermes garden party and again not as many people carry one where I live. DC has a good number of wealthy individuals who are old money but they are extremely understated about wealth. People here tend to carry bottega venetta and other understated designers.

Ah yes that's the exact feeling I'm having with my Damier Ebene Speedy 35. It was my first LV bag that I bought 4 years ago and carried it constantly the first 2 years. But I haven't carried it the past year or so. It's just too big I realize. I kinda get annoyed every time I look at it. But I don't want to sell it just yet.

I was in the same boat- I've had my DE speedy 35 for a few years now and stopped carrying it about a year ago. I gravitated towards shoulder bags and bought a Speedy B 30. But since getting that bag I realized I love the opening of the 35 so much more! I dont like the way the speedy b 35 looks when it's carried by the shoulder strap though so that's not an option for me. That said, I've started carrying my de speedy 35 a lot now. And I love that I can find things easier in the 35! Definitely don't sell- I took down my listing and find I've been using it a lot.

You can always customize your bags by adding whimsical charms and bandeaus. I would also take it as a compliment when someone is wearing the same bag as you. Two great, fashionable minds think alike! I saw another woman wearing the same pair of Toms as me. I loved it.

I also know that the bag is unique to every outfit.

Yes I get tired of bags often. But LV bags have been the ONLY bags so far that I can FALL BACK IN LOVE after getting tired of them. It is so strange. All my other brands I get tired, I move on, I never look back. Only LV...... Such lure, and I still don't know why.

That is why I am reluctant in selling LV bags. Cause who knows when I will fall back in love again. I do sell other brands. As a matter of fact I think I have pretty sold off all my other non-LV bags over the years.

You do have a beautiful LV collection. I think the type of bags we purchase also influences the way we grow old with them. Bags that are too trendy tend to get old to me, while classics bags are forever.

It's funny you say that because I was just looking at the Neverfull de last night and thinking - gosh this bag has held up really well (aside from the cracking handles). I think I am ultimately going to keep this (perhaps I am being a bit of a hoarder). I just don't want to regret not having it and a tiny part of me feels that might be the case. It has been raining practically everyday for a month in DC so I haven't been able to use my other bags as much - this may also be contributing to the I'm kind of tired of this bag phase.
