I don't understand the 'everyone has one, so I NEED to be different' mentality. Everyone has one because it's working for them, why should your decisions be based on what others do/don't own?

That said, falling out of love because it doesn't functionally fit your lifestyle anymore, develops design issues/defects, or you fall in love with others sounds like the natural progression of LVoe (literally and in the LV sense). I've sold one or the other bag because of any of those 3 issues and if you're not loving it anymore, it's better to get rid of it and get something that does make you smile. :smile1:

For me it's not so much I need to be different; I want to be different. When everyone is carrying it, it just feels less special - particularly when practically every college kid walking around DC has one. As a young professional, I work hard for my money and it does kind of irk me when these kids are running around with 1000+ bags. There are probably others here who do base their decisions on the latest trends but that's not me. What a waste of money that would be! When I purchase items, I think long and carefully about functionality and how the item will fit my lifestyle. The Neverfull fits my lifestyle but I don't think I need three in different prints!

LV is more than just canvas bags... Why don't you give their leather range a chance as I assume money isn't an issue if your thinking of Hermes. :smile1:

I am not a fan of the epi unfortunately and I am also trying to go the direction of less obvious lux which is why I like the garden party. I have an empreinte wallet but I don't think I'd buy the bag because it has LV stamped all over it. It's a beautiful bag but where I live which is in DC the young professional group is much more subtle about lux.

Yes. I'm losing my lust for my mono Neverfull MM. It's handy sometimes but it's not a particularly attractive bag on me. I just don't like the squareness of it. I just got my speedy 35 DA in December but I wish I had gotten the 30. I love my speedy 35 in DE. Love it. But the DA looks too big in 35.
I fell out of love with my mono speedy 30 about a year ago but we've recently reconciled[emoji7]. I'm loving her right now. And lastly, I've lost the love for my Eva. It's cute. Looks great. But it's too small. I'm thinking of consigning all 3 but I'm not sure wouldn't regret it later. And to make it worse, all are literally in like new condition & I won't get even close to what I'd want if I consigned. I've tried to use them more thinking I'd break them in and we'd bond. It just hasn't happened yet. I'd probably sell them for a decent price on eBay but it's become too risky and eBay is just not seller friendly anymore. Meanwhile, I keep trying to love them. Maybe I just have LV burn out right now.[emoji20]

I'm so there with you on the Eva. I had that one too but it was too small and the cross body strap was too long. Plus it was too dressy for day and too casual for night. I sell my bags to friends or relatives. Not only are these people I trust but I know the bag has found a loving home!

I understand what you mean now, it's not so much exclusivity but perhaps more 'working professional/age appropriate(?)' (for lack of a more eloquent description). If the style works for you, there's no harm owning it in different prints but it's clear you don't love this bag anymore.

I'd say sell the DE (because you've already mentioned defective strap) and keep one you're most attracted to/likely to use in the future... just in case you fall in LVoe again. :smile1:

My first luxury bag was a monogram speedy 25 eleven years ago. I used it daily for six years. LOVED it. And then I had kids. And I haven't used it since.

I recently pulled it out and was admiring it. I really abused the bag and unfortunately the underpart of the handle is really black and I have only been moderately successful at cleaning it. The rest of the handles and the other vachetta handles, otoh, have patina-ed into the most gorgeous shade.

But there is no place in my life now for a strictly handheld bag.

My next bag will hopefully be the speedy b monogram 25.

I plan on saving my current speedy 25 for my girls when they're older.

Also, I see LV bags daily everywhere. But for some reason I don't see the speedy b much at all. Why??

I just sold my Montgaine MM. I hated the clip closure. I don't like bags that are open on the top. Makes me feel like my wallet is going to be stolen. Even in my never full, I purchased an organizer that has a zip top closure.

I haven't gotten tired of any of mine (yet) but maybe it's because I rotate them out when I get bored with a particular one. Most of my bags fit my lifestyle although I have one handheld one that I only carry when I don't need to use both hands.

As far as "everyone having one".... I see lots of people carrying LV where I live but have only seen a few people carrying the ones I own.

Hey everyone. So three years ago I bought my first designer bag and it was the Louis Vuitton mm in damier ebene. I loved that bag for the first two and a half years I owned it and basically took it everywhere with me. Lately I have started falling out of love with it for various reasons.

1) I think I've just owned it for a while and maybe I am tired of the print 2) everyone and their mother owns it (literally; i saw a woman at the grocery store this morning using it as a diaper bag ahhhhh) so I feel like it's not as special anymore 3) since purchasing it the handles have been cracking and that has been annoying me 4) I have found a love for other lux items besides just LV (Chanel, goyard, Saint Laurent, Hermes and MG). Currently I also have two other Neverfulls - one in the monogram in mm and another in the azure gm. I am wondering if I should sell the DE bag.

And frankly wonder if I should also sell the azure. It looks great but in terms of functionality I hardly ever get to use it because I'm afraid of getting it dirty. It's so white! Plus I have noticed other people carrying this bag and the patina looks really bad. And recently while wearing a pink shirt I got some color transfer on the bags speaking of, any suggestions on how to get that out?

Just got into LV last Aug or so, so am totally loving LV, not tired of my LV pieces yet.

Been loyal to LV for 9 years now and will always be. Only bag I have fallen out of love with is the first one I purchased - speedy 25 in Azur. I can't bring myself to sell it because it's the first lv bag that I bought it with my own money and wasn't a gift , but I don't use it and hate looking at it because I really used and abused it. If you don't like or use a bag anymore and it has no sentimental value.... Sell it. No point in hoarding it.

Thanks for your thoughts! I have been thinking of purchasing a bottega veneta wallet in pink. What made you fall out of love with the brand? Any quality issues?

I worked for BV five summers in a row... this was my last job in the handbag world.

I got sick of woven leather! When BV was relaunched by Kering, it was practically unknown since the brand had become so unfashionable in the 1980s and 1990s. It was very unusual and it felt very exclusive. Today, everyone and their dogs have a BV. There are quality issues (like all brands really) particularely leather strands coming loose (BV will repair) and discoloration of the Nappa leather. And most importantly, many of the bags lose their shape/structure over time, which I do not find appealing at all. Have you ever seen a used Montaigne? It looks like a used condom!

They do have some nice bags. I love the woven goat because it's thougher and more structured than Nappa. And I love their RTW (but so pricey!).

You know I am bored with my keypouch. If I ever get myself bag from any designer, I would eventually get bored of it. I think it natural to get bored of material things. Eventually I will have return of surge to love it again. :p

+1

It's rather ridiculous IMO, to think that you can have exclusivity with a mass-produced item. It's like a Mercedes or BMW.

If they want exclusivity, they need to spend $$$ and even then, depending on where you live, you'll still see others with the same bag. My SO has a baby blue Bentley and I've seen several of them around town, yet that color was chosen because my SO believed it was "unique."
